Highlights
  • Santuario de la Virgen del Rocio - We start our tour by visiting Rocio Virgin Church in Biblian. This church has a very distinctive gothic architectural style, dating back to the late 19th century. Next, we will visit an indigenous family where we’ll observe the weaving of Panama hats. This is one of the most authentic crafts of Southern Ecuador and has a prominent role in the economy of the area. We continue our tour with a ride through the enchanting highlands, enjoying the beautiful views along the way.
  • Ingapirca Archaeological Complex - Ingapirca is located approximately 60 miles northeast of Cuenca at an elevation of 10,500 feet above sea level.

Upon arrival at Ingapirca, one of the most important Inca structures is waiting for us – an elliptical platform known as the “Sun’s Temple”. Afterward, we will explore the courtyards, terraces, and various other ruins. In order to get a closer look at the local atmosphere, we will take a short hike to observe the Inca’s Face, a large stone outcropping.

Wilson is top-notch! - Wilson is top notch! This tour guide has both deep knowledge and personal ties to Cuenca, which enhanced our tours —immensely. Whether it be culture, history, botany, geology, archeology, gastronomy —his knowledge shared made me feel like I had taken a college class with a fun professor. And he’s so open to any question. I cannot wait to get back to Ecuador thanks to Wilson. Jamy from Austin, Texas

History comes to life! - Thank you, Cuena Bestours. Our tour of Ingapirca with Wilson was spectacular! He’s an excellent guide. As someone that has lived in Cuenca all his life, Wilson helped us understand how people have lived in the region over the last 600 years. We discussed many topics during the car ride and lunch including a quick stop to watch the process of the famous pig roasting. We would recommend to family and friends!

A Perfect Day in Ecuador - We booked this tour through Viator, which was very easy and straightforward. From the time of booking, Cuenca Bestours was immediately attentive, giving all necessary information and making arrangements for pick-up, etc. We booked this tour months in advance, and in the tour details they request one to send them a confirmation email a couple days before the tour, just to make sure everything is good to go. I liked the communication and attention to detail. No surprises. Our guide, Sebastian, was great! He answered all of our questions related to the tour, Cuenca, and Ecuador in general. He even gave us advice for the different locations we will be visiting during our travels. Sebastian was extremely knowledgeable about everything, we learned so many interesting things in the 7-8 hours we spent with him. We had lunch at this awesome restaurant that is also a museum (and you can do a half-day tour just for that). Great vegetarian options, great vibe. We finished the tour feeling happy, wishing Sebastian could be our guide for the rest of Ecuador, and wishing that we could stay in Cuenca much longer.

A worthwhile visit - The visit to the Ingapirac ruins will a highlight of our visit to Cuenca. It was a large part due to all the information given to us by our guide, Wilson. The trail was very accessible to a person with mobility issues. The site itself had wonderful views of the surrounding area.

Great day trip to Ingapirca - Our trip to Ingapirca was wonderful, our tour guide Wilson was very knowledgeable and helpful with all of our questions. He was like traveling with a friend instead of the tour guide. Lunch was really good, I would highly recommend this day trip.

Fabulous family tour - We had a fabulous day on our tour to Ingapirca and a couple of other sites. Our guide, Enrique, was very knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. He was especially good at engaging our 14- and 16-year olds We had a delicious lunch during the trip and the opportunity to see how silver filigree is made at an artisanal workshop. We also visited a museum/workshop to see how authentic Ikat fabric is made. The drive was very interesting itself and Enrique provided commentary along the way. Our driver, Manuel, was safe and great at pickups and drop offs during the day. Highly recommended tour!

Perfect day - We loved the adventure and variety of activities from seeing they famous Virgen de Rocio in town of Biblian and hearing it's origin story (caution 145 steps! But view worth the climb) to watching unique local pork skins in the making, to the amazing Ingepirca ruins (an easy walk) to seeing the incredible Incan face and enjoying delicious local cuisine... It was a lovely day made better by thee small group atmosphere and great information from Wilson.

Lovely day of atmosphere and history - Great tour guide, very knowledgeable and informative, excellent English. The site itself a little simple having visited Machu Pichu, but still a great atmosphere and history. Go here before MP if possible. Really good to travel as a small group and avoid the crowds.
