A wonderful day in Novia Scotia - Manjeet was AMAZING. My husband, mother, and I went on a great tour after being picked up from the Royal Caribbean cruise. We stopped at a lot of beautiful areas to see the views and take pictures. We stopped at a great little spot to grab a coffee and moose head pics!! Then we went to the Gondola and spent time there and it was great views. Manjeet was easy to talk to and a great addition to our group. We then went to the Keltic Lodge and then to the pristine beach! beautiful rocks. I will be back and I would love to do this all over! I highly suggest you go and just enjoy every minute. Thank you Manjeet. Hope I meet mom!

This was a fun excursion when our cruise ship was in Sydney - I booked a private Cabot Trail & Meat Cove tour for my wife and me through Sydney and Cape Breton Taxi tours. Our driver, Rahul, did an excellent job in showing us the area in his cab. He was punctual, friendly and provided us a fun day as we ventured around the Cabot Trail. The private tour was nice as we could stop wherever we wanted. We received discounted tickets to ride the gondola to the top of Cape Smokey. The views up there were amazing. Nice bonus was that this tour was less expensive than booking a tour from the ship where we would have been on a bus with dozens of other people and not been able to drive to some of the locations we visited.

Cape Views With a Personal Touch - Simon is a gracious and knowledgeable host who provided all kinds of interesting information as we traveled the Cabot Trail. He was very accommodating and would stop anywhere we wanted to go. We had a great time during the day and saw some stunning views of the coast. Well worth the trip. Thanks Simon!

Fantastic tour of Cape Breton - My husband and I visited Cape Breton while cruising with Norwegian. We booked the Iona & Baddeck Grand Tour and loved it. Simon was our guide and was very helpful and accommodating. We are photography and history nerds and thought this tour checked all the boxes. If you want to see Cape Breton through the eyes of a local, you need to book with these folks. Wish I could give them more than 5 stars!!!

A Wonderful Day - We had a wonderful day on the Cabot Trail -- saw the beautiful countryside and learned many interesting things. Despite some poor weather in parts, Simon still managed to make everything amusing and informative. We had good opportunities for pictures and plenty of rest stops. There is no comparison to the kind of trip we would have had driving ourselves -- not just because of the long distance but because we would have missed so much. I would highly recommend this trip.

Be certain you have a tour guide, not merely a taxi driver - Mr. Simon MacKay is the head of a consortium of taxi drivers. Although he was unable to lead our excursion, Simon has an excellent reputation as a tour guide, not just as a taxi driver. Brian and Tom were two of the drivers for our group and they were both excellent tour guides. Be careful, however, if you are escorted by someone other than Simon, Brian or Tom, you may have a taxi driver, but not a tour guide. The vehicle in which I was a passenger was driven by a recent immigrant to Nova Scotia. He was a pleasant and courteous young man, but he had no training as a tour guide. When I tested him, by asking questions for which I knew the answers, the young driver provided incorrect information. Customers should exercise caution. If your driver is not Simon, Brian or Tom, you may receive a silent taxi ride, not the guided tour which you have booked. I note that a previous poster had a similar experience, receiving "a taxi ride more than a [properly narrated] tour."

Waste of money due to time of year mainly but also due to tour guide provided. - This tour really should not be offered this late in the season for several reasons. One being at this point all the foliage has already dropped and everything looks dead. Obviously that would not be the case every year but doing it this late most likely you would see very little. More importantly, EVERY place along the way was closed. We could not find a place to eat anywhere. Finally found a road side perminant stand that offered sandwiches. However you had to eat outside or in your car. Third issue was finding a bathroom was almost impossible since again everything had closed for the season. We finally found an inn that was technically closed but they were inside covering all the furniture so we were able to use the background. Then more specific to our tour was our “taxi” guide. Yes he was not a tour guide on this trip but a taxi driver. While he was polite he had only lived in this area for 2 years which might not be an issue for a person that was interested in doing this job but our driver was going to school for engineering and had very little knowledge about this area at all. This is a lot to pay for a private all day tour. And if he was into his job he would have been prepared for the tour. He would have known that everything was closed already for the season. He would have suggested we bring lunch along. Given us a heads up we might not find a bathroom stop etc. He would have brought water and snacks etc. We were picked up at 8:30am and it was late afternoon before we found a bathroom stop or the sandwich shack on the side of the road. Thank goodness we did find those because there were no other options had we passed on those.

We waited at the pick up... - We waited at the pick up place for 1/2 hour and then called and they said it was cancelled by aviator and then rebooked. So then he sent a taxi so at this point our 12 hr tour is already an hour late.

Cut short our Taxi Ride/Tour - I am sorry to report that our Tour with Sydney and Cape Breton Taxi Tours was very disappointing. We were not lucky enough to get Simon as our Guide. We experienced more of a Taxi ride than a guided tour. Driver/Guide arrived in an old (not clean) and uncomfortable car with a broken side mirror. We enjoyed a nice drive on part of the Cabot Trail with some very nice stops for pictures. Stops were more frequent and longer that we felt necessary and at time had us wondering if driver was trying to "kill time". We decided to cut our Full Day Tour to about six hours. I think during busy times, Syndey and Cape Breton Taxi Tours may "Sub Out" overflow business to other drivers. If you decide to book, make sure you request Simon (who other reviewers highly recommend).
