Great Bears of Bute Island - This tour led by Xwemalhkwu First Nation was beyond extraordinary. It was called the Great Bears of Bute Island. Meeting in Campbell River, BC on an early fall morning, we boarded a brand new boat with indoor/outdoor space, comfortable chairs and a bathroom! Traveling north for 2 hours we learned about the bears from our knowledgeable guide and viewed the most incredible scenery. Upon arriving at Bute Inlet we were greeted by more guides who took us under their wings to explore the area by bus to safe forest stands to observe the bears. We saw 8 Grizzlies and 2 Black Bears and other wildlife. We felt perfectly safe as our guides took many safety precautions. A delicious lunch and dialogue on the way back made for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend this tour.

Fate - It was truly fate that we ended up on this tour. We were told they were booked for the 1 day we were there but I insisted we go to the dock. We met Captain Ron on the boardwalk. Super nice fella. Got on the next tour. Janice was so informative. Pictures of the different animals. I loved the blessing she gave before departing. Being end of season, no promises but we saw it all. Humpbacks, sea lions, seals and a variety of birds. I loved the tenacity of these 2 to ensure we saw whales. Boat was very nice and warm. Skipper was impressive with his skill set. We had an awesome time and I would recommend this tour

ORCAS & HUMPBACKS - Great day out and an hour longer than what was on offer in Victoria (an hour south). No guarantees but the team did all they could and we saw orcas and humpbacks on the trip. Some boats were lucky to have them surface nearby too and whilst they may have better photos, that comes down to pot luck not a whale preferring another boat. The main point is all boats tried to maintain a reasonable distance but you can't help where they pop up.

Whale watching - The crew was knowledgeable and kind. The vessel was comfortable, modern and clean. The scenery was breathtaking. I highly recommend getting out to experience Campbell River from the water. Small group sizes. It is was a rainy day but we were still comfortable and dry with excellent views from indoors with the option to sit outside or pop in and out for viewing.

Excellent afternoon whale watching on a comfortable boat with great captain and crew member. - We chose this company because we wanted to support a First Nations business. We were fortunate to have seen 6 humpback whales, including one that breached! three orcas, as well as some seals. The scenery alone is worth the trip. The captain - Holly - and crew - Janet - were very competent and respectful of the animals. We were happy to have seats both inside and out. A hot drink and granola bar were a welcome snack. We would highly recommend this outing.

The best tour in Campbell River - Guide Janet and Cpt Ron are awesome. The whole tour was delightful. We saw not one but many whales thanks to the cooperation been the various whale watching boats. This is a must see for locals and visitors. Our daughter from California was amazed at the scenery and the whales. The day was beautiful.

Enjoying a fall day on the water in Campbell River! - The staff, especially Ron and Kasi, were great! The equipment was top notch! We saw sea lions, at least two types of whales and lots of other wildlife. We finished the morning off with lunch at Dockside’s.

Wildlife galore - Our driver Al constantly looked out for wildlife and ensured we had the best experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and advised us if the features of each animal we saw and discussed the homalco culture. On our trip, we saw humpback whales, seals, sea lions, harbour porpoise and orca. With the help of a telephoto lens and some cropping, I captured some amazing shots. The best bit was when Al switched the engine off and we sat in silence listening to a whale blow. Even tough Al adhered to the minimum distance to whales, it was so quiet we could here the whale. A truly humbling experience.

Not totally as expected - We did not see whales or bears. I thought the promise was 90% success so what are the odds I would be part of the 10%. We did see Dalls porpoise, sea lions and eagles as well as beautiful scenery. The boat was very comfortable, especially when raining, when everyone had a seat inside the heated cabin.
