Scholars Punting Cambridge presents a shared punting trip exploring the backdrop of Cambridge College. The voyage lasts for 45 minutes.
With the onset of COVID 19, we’ve ensured ample space in our seating arrangements. Now, a booking requires a minimum of three adult passengers. Be aware that under certain conditions, you might face other clients.
Your Chauffeur is skilled at navigation and ensures a secure journey along the river. Not just that, he also provides historical insights about the river and the area around.
Our punts are traditionally constructed with hardwood and are equipped with cushions and covers for your convenience.
We also offer a variety of private tours, in addition to the shared tour described here. Note that private tours can exclusively be booked through our website.

A Sublime Experience in a Beautiful Setting - We chose Scholars because they seemed well organised and the charming Jacob was very helpful when we bought our tickets at The Quay.
Although we were booked for a shared tour, we were lucky enough to have the boat to ourselves. Our guide, Callum, was new to the job and was very knowledgeable, personable and informative. The sun was shining and it was finally a warm spring day. The views from the river of the ancient bridges and beautiful colleges were wonderful, made even more spectacular by the bluebells and abundant spring blossom along the banks of the Cam.
We would thoroughly recommend this relaxing, interesting and sublime experience when visiting Cambridge.

They hold up the boat and wait for us - Because of road work, our park and ride bus is getting late into town. Good that Scholars Punting has a number listed in the confirmation email and I called them 15 min before our departure time, telling the man that we would be late. Really appreciate they can hold up the boat while we were running to the quay. Still catching our breath, we enjoyed a wonderful punt with Claudius, thank you very much!

A relaxed, fun experience - We made a last minute decision to do this punting tour and we’re so glad we did. Sol was funny, knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of fun facts about the river, buildings and colleges. He also recommended an amazing Vietnamese restaurant for dinner afterwards. Thank you Sol!

The Pirate Punter - The punter, whose name I forget, said he can be referrred to as The Pirate due to his hat. He was an older man and very knowledgable. He answered all our questions and added interesting facts and opinions as well as informing us on what we were seeing. I would highly recommend this company for a relaxing punt on the river Cam in Cambridge especially if you lucky enough to have The Pirate as your punter and tour guide.

Watching someone enjoy their job makes a tour so much more memorable! - My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our punting trip. The views are stunning. However, it was our tour guide Nick who made the experience unforgettable. His enthusiasm and pride for Cambridge was so uplifting, creating engagement to the in-depth and knowledgeable stories he has about present day and historical Cambridge. It was a joy to watch. Excellent tour of the River Cam with Scholars Punting Co. 5 stars ***** - We spent a full day in Cambridge and a trip in a punt down the river Cam was definitely on our list of things to do.
We chose Scholars after reading several reviews and loved every minute of the 45 minute tour of the river with Milo at the helm.
We were very impressed with how much knowledge Milo has and he told us so many interesting facts about the area and the history of Cambridge itself. He also added in humour and made us feel at ease the whole time.
Would definitely recommend Scholars to all. Enjoy!

Anniversary - This is well worth doing if in Cambridge, it is very relaxing, the Punts were as described and were not over crowded. It rained on the way back, and an umbrella would have been good, otherwise cannot fault it.

Awful experience with the service - I am disgusted by this company. I booked a 14:10pm on 23rd March for a shared punting activity on GetYourGuide app that same day in the morning, got confirmed with an email and I arrived at 14:03pm to the place, talked to the punting agent and he confirmed me for my booking. Minutes later, he told me the punt was overbooked, pushed me to a later slot and only saying there’s nothing he can do about it. I had no choice but to wait for the later slot since I have already planned this activity and I do not live in Cambridge. I complained on getyourguide about this matter and the agent filed a complaint back to scholars punting only to be told that I WAS LATE FOR THE PUNTING TOUR and they were nice about it to let me into a later slot. I am baffled by the fact that they lied about this when I was EARLY to my slot, got confirmed by the punting guide AND then get told later I have to be put into a later slot due to overbooking.
Although the later slot was 20 mins later, it was really cold and windy that day, my mom is already really old and do not live in a cold country, so a place like this I wouldn’t want her to wait for too long if it’s not needed. We waited until the scheduled time only to be waiting more for the absent agent nowhere to be found which costed us having to wait for longer until the agent appeared.
The fact that this company lied to getyourguide about my punctuality does not sit well with me and I truly think this is not how you treat your customers.
