Additional Information

Discover the full narrative of Cambridge history. From conquering Romans, terrifying Saxons, ferocious Vikings and brutal Normans, the ‘Cam-bridge’ established its core presence in English history a thousand years prior to the foundation of the University. Further, explore what 800 years of stringent Dons and rebellious students have contributed since then, led by one of our highly engaging guides. If you’re looking for an extended dissertation about various types of arches, then we might not be your cup of tea - but if you prefer education through enjoyment, then we’re undoubtedly for you!

Quite the opposite of terrible - Fun and Entertaining - I did a walking tour guided by Chuck and had a wonderful time. Firstly, it was a small group, so no one got lost or left behind and everyone could easily gather around Chuck to hear the information he was telling us. Secondly, the walking was easy (no killer steep hills etc) but it would still be worth wearing a comfortable pair of shoes so you can thoroughly enjoy the walk. (Some streets are cobblestone or paved and so flat walking shoes are always going to be best for balance). Thirdly I had been to Cambridge about 15 years ago and done a walking tour then. Chuck covered 1 or 2 of the standard places you'll find on any walking tour - but I genuinely learned far more new interesting facts and stories about Cambridge. Thoroughly recommend it!

Curiosity satisfied - An excellent and informative tour which was not at all fusty or boring. Simon the guide was charming and inclusive and could answer all questions. He knew the history as well as how the colleges work today. He showed us some very interesting architectural features we would have missed on our own. We thoroughly enjoyed our 90 mins with him and would recommend the tour.

Curious Cambridge - The tour was very interesting and engaging in highlighting the history of Cambridge and it’s main attractions. The tour guide Stacey appeared to be knowledgeable of her history in the City which made the tour exciting and worthwhile for someone not having visited Cambridge before.

Really fun and informative - We had so much fun being show the history of the city we have lived in for the last few years. There was so much we didn’t know and all of it was delivered in a really entertaining manner by our guide. We were lucky enough to pick a quiet time and we had our guide all to ourselves and we really enjoyed spending the 1.5 hour walk with her. We will be signing up for the creepy tour next!

Lacklustre Tour - We were expecting a fun and informative tour but I’m afraid it was lacklustre and tedious. We ranged in age from 80 to 8 and it didn’t pique the interest of any of us.
