- Famara - Learn how to surf from scratch on Playa Famara, Europe’s best beach break for beginner and intermediate surfers.
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
After a short briefing at the surf shop, your surf instructor will provide you with a wetsuit and a surf board. A short ride to the right spot on the beach and the action begins. A quick safety talk, warm-up, followed by exercises on the beach and in the water. Our instructors are always on your side, helping your on the beach and on the water. Most of our surf students catch their first wave on their first day!
So what’s included:

What will I learn:
- Choosing the right surf board and a wetsuit
- Finding the right places to surf safely
- How to recognise rips and how to deal with them
- Paddling on the surf board
- Stand-up techniques
- Find and catch your first waves
- Analyse your rides on a big video screen and receive useful feedback from your instructor

Very enjoyable surfing lessons! - As first timers, me and my son really enjoyed the lessons and surfing. It’s physically demanding but was good fun. Would have returned for another day of surfing if we didn’t get so tired. Would definitely recommend. They even show you your surfing video after the session ends which was good to see the progress one has made. But of a drive from Playa Blanca where we were staying but well worth it. The drive is nice and so is the beach. If you want to surf, then this is the beach to be.

Great experience with Red Star! - Great time - learning in a relaxed environment. I took surfing lessons with Red Star on two separate days. I plan to go back again next year and do a full week with them.

Great teachers, we would love to come back! - Great surf instructors and super motivated teachers who are keen to teach you the right technique and not just "stand on the board". You'll definitely get something out of this in the long term! We were there last year in autumn and are still enthusiastic today. We're even thinking about coming back for a week next year! :)

Do it! - Fantastic day. Staff were friendly and very knowledgable, always watching to point out how you can improve. As a solo traveller I was made to feel very comfortable and wish I had the money to do more lessons.

Best experience surfing! - It was the best experience surfing for the first time! The waves were small this day but that didn’t matter. Especially Jerry was a good instructor, he really knows what he’s doing and can give you direct pointers on what to change. They also picked us up from our hotel, which was 30 minutes away. Great day! Thanks!

Awesome experience!! - The whole experience was fantastic from start to finish. First time surfing and certainly not a natural but Jerry was so patient and kept persevering with helping me to get up on the board. The location was amazing and after the lesson had finished we all went back to the surf shop so the instructors could show us a video they had taken of each person and give hints and tips on how to improve. Only wish I had a few more days here so could have given it another go. Would highly recommend for all ages, so much fun!

An amazing first surfing experience - This was the first ever surf for our teenage kids, so they were nervous and a bit reluctant beforehand but they loved it and want to come back for more! Thanks to the kind and friendly teachers, small groups and perfect sized waves on a lovely beach, the 4 hour lesson with a short break in the middle was a huge success. They did a good, thorough and fun warm-up first, which I think was really important not only for safety, but also for breaking the ice in the group and relaxing into the activity. The feedback session afterwards using videos to gently critique and encourage all the students that day also really added to the learning experience. Really fantastic all round and we will try to fit in at least one more day with Red Star Surf this holiday.

Maybe surfing is not for me. - First Experience was not good. First, the wet suit is too big, after a while, I was already like a balloon with water, and heavy. Then the instructor cannot speak good English, as can imagine, first time surfer as me cannot even know what I should do, what’s the right way. Then of course, they push you to stand on board. Of course, fall all times, twisted my toes. Had to stop in the middle. It should be a unique experiences if it would be organized better. Unfortunately I don’t feel connected with this sport.
