Additional Information

For three hours we will enjoy not only a delicious buffet-style dinner, with a great variety of typical Egyptian dishes, but also a show of traditional music and dances.

Two of the traditional dances that we will witness are the Al Tannoura and the Oriental Dance.

Al Tannoura is the name of the dance also known as the Sufi turn or dervish turn, which was introduced in Egypt during the Ottoman occupation. This dance is generally performed by men and is a demonstration of concentration, balance, and physical strength, and requires great training.

Oriental dance is the true name of the dance known as
belly dance
, which has its origin in the East and has different characteristics depending on the region or country of origin. In Cairo, the Baladi style is danced, more sensual, and sophisticated. The word
Baladi
is one that was mistakenly interpreted by the Anglo-Saxons as
belly dance
, an expression that literally translated into
belly dance
.
