Stunning day trip! - The GEM was amazing and we had the best day. Everything was absolutely stunning- the building and the exhibits. Wonderful shops and quality lunch options. The food and services were top notch and every staff member we interacted with were so lovely and helpful, just brilliant. We were there all day (from opening to 5pm) we got a well priced Uber to get there and there were a couple of very decent, non pushy ‘go limo’ taxi drivers outside after to take us back to our hotel after for a very reasonable price, so getting to and from the museum was super easy with small kids. The museum even had driven golf carts to take you back to the entrance if you don’t want to walk! Well done to the GEM, everything was classy and perfect. A stark contrast from what can be experienced in Egypt. I couldn’t find fault in a single thing, an unforgettable experience. Thoroughly recommend visiting!

New and Outstanding!!! - This museum even from the outside is so impressive. Add the Grand Egyptian Museum to the list of the world's greatest museums. I latched on to guide-led small group and learned a lot about ancient Egyptian culture. The exhibits are beautifully laid out and with the guide, the museum was not overwhelming. Afterward, I went to the museum cafe and had a nice lunch.

Stunning fusion of ancient Egypt and modern architecture - The edgy and very modern Grand Egyptian Museum is stunning! Viewing the dramatic structure from afar and up close is jaw-dropping. Outside the museum, the iconic Pyramids of Giza stand as they have for thousands of years. The pyramid shape is integrated into the design of the building and its surroundings. I wish we had more time to visit at night to see the changes that different lighting would show in the alabaster facade. When you walk inside, everything is huge and expansive. I felt the power of these Egyptian antiquities in the way the museum was designed. Be prepared for lots of walking to get to the exhibits. There are escalators and elevators available, too. The exhibits are organized chronologically and by themes of society, kingship, and beliefs. We had a short guided tour, which would help give you the important facts before perusing the galleries on your own. Make on-line reservations! Don't forget to take a photo of the real Pyramids from the plate glass windows on the upper floors. So many selfie opportunities with Rames II and other exhibits. We saw people eating at Zooba, and the food looked delicious. The museum gift shop had a selection of reasonably priced gifts without haggling! I bought most of my souvenirs and gifts here. I loved this new museum, but appreciated the comfort of the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which made me feel more connected to the displays with their descriptions. Perhaps, the immense spaciousness of the GEM made me feel disconnected from the objects and displays. The full opening is set for summer 2025--put the GEM on your bucket list!

This is a museum that you could spend at least 2 days at . . . . - Lots to see here. Very well done. So close to the pyramids you can see them from the museum's windows. I only had about 90 minutes here, but luckily was with an Egyptian guide who knew the museum well, so I got a lot in during my short stay.

Grand indeed - Hard to believe so much history can be summarized in a few floors, but this museum does a great job of telling the story of Egypt in a way that's understandable and engaging. We were confused with the museum map and suggested routes but it all makes sense at the TOP of the grand staircase. Once there it is easy to follow a suggested route or create one for yourself. The explanations on exhibit pieces are clear and a good length, i felt like we saw more than had to read. This is an excellent museum and when the Tut wing opens will be even more grand.

Beautiful and Impressive Grand Egyptian Museum - The Grand Egyptian Museum is undoubtedly a masterpiece of modern architecture — spacious, grand, and beautifully curated. Everything is clean, well-labelled, air-conditioned, and in proper order. It’s a huge step forward in terms of visitor comfort and presentation. But as much as I appreciated the newness and organization, I personally felt that something was lacking. Compared to the old Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, GEM feels a bit too polished. The original museum may be chaotic and a little dusty, but it holds a raw, authentic charm that makes you feel truly connected to Egypt’s long and layered history. GEM is clearly built to impress — and it does. It’s worth a visit, especially once the full collection is on display. But if you're a nostalgic traveler who enjoys the feeling of stepping back in time, the old museum might still speak to you more deeply.

Beautiful museum - The bad thing is that in Egypt everything gets always overshadowed with people harassing you. The Grand Egyptian museum is extremely well done. We did teh tour, but to be honest, looking how fast it goes and how little extra information you get, I believe it would be better to just walk around yourself. Within the same building as the museum you can find restaurants and a starbucks. The idea is that in the future you will have direct access to the pyramids from the museum, which I hope would get rid of all the scammers. What made this great experience bad, once again, is the fact that as soon as you get out and call for an Uber, every single taxi driver is harassing you to go with them, continously and not in a nice way. Our uber took some time to arrive because various drivers wanted to pick us up outside of the uber app, asking to cancel and then for them to come and pick us up and for us to pay in cash. So had to cancel then and then get another one, while taxi drivers continues to harass us...Welcome to Cairo.
