Important sites whirlwind tour ! - Overall the day was excellent - well organised and the chance to see famous Egyptian sites in a short time scale. The organiser arranged the required visa for us and we had an English speaking Egyptologist - more information than I can remember Lunch was good - we opted out of short Nile boat trip tit he restaurant and glad we did we saw as much from the Bus driving to meet them at the restaurant. Bus wasn’t an issue for us but expect 6 hours plus each way.

Seven wonders - Camel riding around the pyramids was just exceptional Our tour guide was an amazing man Thankyou. Only downside was the journey time, however this was to be expected due the distance. Very good value for money too.

All I ecpected - The Pyramids were the highlights for me. All in all a reasonable price for return bus travel with air conditioning, guides, decent lunch etc.

Day trip to Cairo - A long day but worth the effort to see the only one of the 7 wonders of the world still in existence. Awe inspiring to see them up close and still wonder at how they were built. A must if you go to Egypt. The Egyptian museum was fascinating as well with a knowledgeable guide. However, please can you correct the Itinerary on the web site as you do not even get close to the timings at each place listed below. The reason we booked this tour instead of others was to spend more time at the Museum, Pyramids and Sphynx. Instead we got a tour identical to all the others advertised with about 2 hours at the Museum, 1 hour at the pyramids and 35 minutes at the Sphynx. We did not actually get taken to the Papyrus Museum but to a shop trying to sell us papyrus and also to a perfume shop not even mentioned in the itinerary, again for the hard sell. We also chose this trip as it did not include the boat ride on the Nile, again to spend more time at the main sites, but this was factored in to the trip (at an additional cost) wasting time. Please be honest and say this tour is identical to all the others so everyone know what they are paying for. Tour guide con artist and ridiculous travel conditions - Much as I wanted to leave a positive review, I feel I have a duty to warn people what to actually expect. Firstly, pick up was by a small minibus which transferred us to a bigger coach. That driver expected a tip… then on the coach, which was meant to be air conditioned and is advertised as such, it was air conditioned above only the window seats. The seats in the aisle had no air conditioning. Those lucky enough to get a window seat, weren’t so lucky when the vents wouldn’t stay open anyway. The coach was completely full and families were forced to share rows with strangers. I was separated from my children and sat next to a man who happily spilled into my seat. It made the journey very uncomfortable. The journey… a trip that should take about 6 hours, ended up taking almost 11 hours on the way there and 10 hours on the way back. This is due to the drivers stopping to wait for all buses travelling to anf from Cairo to travel together. There were also ‘10 minute rest stops’ which ended up being 45 minutes sat waiting on a roasting hot bus with no engine running even if the air con was working! Every hour, more stopping and waiting for drivers to have cigarette breaks together. Then the itinerary… the museum was more waiting around for the guide than actually having time to see anything. The Nile cruise offered as an optional extra was actually good value and very enjoyable. The papyrus institute was just an opportunity for them to sell massively overpriced souvenirs. Lunch was ok, but drinks were very expensive compared to buying anywhere else in Egypt. The pyramids were amazing but you do get hounded by people trying to get money from you to take pictures. The sphinx was also great to see but again, hounded by people selling stuff. Finally there was one last stop to again try to sell overpriced perfumes and jewellery. Back on the bus by 6.30pm yet we didn’t get back to the hotel until 4.30am. During this time we were offered pizza by the tour guide. He said a medium pizza and 2 cans of cola for the kids would be $10 or 380 Egyptian pounds. When the pizza came and he asked for payment, suddenly the cola was extra and he wanted 500 Egyptian pounds. We weren’t the only ones on the bus who were ripped off by him hiking the price up after eating. Overall the sights you see are so worth the money, but the trip is massively let down by the tour guide on the bus trying to make extra money for his own pocket and the huge delays and uncomfortable travel. I will finish on a positive note though, the guide we met in Cairo who arranged the boat trip and the horse and cart at the pyramids for us was brilliant. Very helpful, kind and not trying to make money off us so even when lending us cash until we found an ATM, he was converting from dollars to Egyptian pounds at a better rate for us than the bank. He’s the one who got all of our tip money for the day!
