One of the most notable structures within the fortress is the Muhammad Ali Mosque, also referred to as the Alabaster Mosque. Built in the nineteenth century by Muhammad Ali Pasha, the then ruler of Egypt, the mosque is crafted from white alabaster and features two minarets towering above the fortress.
