Over the top with personal attention - The tour was terrific. Sugar Queen and driver Hysen (sp.) were a sensational team. We were exhausted after the mixed grill tasting and thought we had a fine taste of Cairo , We decided we should end the tour. even though we would miss the dessert experience. We went on the tour almost immediately after landing and were exhausted. When Sugar Queen dropped us off at our hotel she handed me something from the dessert tasting we missed. .Sugar Queen had slipped out our grill tasting and unknown to us while which we were enjoying thetasting with our driver to get us dessert. She handed us the box when we were dropped off at the hotel. We opened the box three hours later we were stunned with a fabulous fantastic sweet treat for the eyes and the tongue. We have been on food tours in many countries. None was better than this this taste of the country tour and as a bonus watching, talking and learning from folks about several native crafts. In sum, if you are considering a food tour in Cairo, you will enjoy this exceptional tour.

Amazing!!! - We had the most amazing tour with Mo and Haitham. They took care of our every need. The food was incredible but we also got to do some shopping and see how papyrus is made. Our view at lunch was absolutely breathtaking and this has been our favorite day of our trip so far! We can’t recommend Mo enough as a guide!!

Delicious food tour plus more - Enjoyed being taken around the city to try different food and sweets. Enjoyed my felluca ride and tea by the end of the day. We also visited different shops for oils, tea and papyrus. Overall, a great day and full tummy. Thank you!

We had a wonderful time... - We had a wonderful time on this tour. Lots (and I mean lots) of lovely food to try, some fun shopping and a spectacular view of the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx with lunch. What really made this tour special was our guide Sugar Queen. She was full of information and a lot of fun! Highly recommended.

This Food Tour Turns into an Amazing Cultural Immersion - Excellent experience! After having done several walking tours in Athens and Rome, we were not sure what to expect in terms of Egyptian food, especially with an early pick up at 9:30am. We were greeted by Hala, whose energetic personality could simultaneously charge our cell phones, and driven in an air conditioned van to Giza Protectorate for a taste of Egyptian breakfast. The breakfast spread included shakshuka, eggs scrambled with a tomato sauce, crispy and delicious Egyptian falafel prepared with fava beans, as well as Fava brown beans, babaganoush, warm pita style bread, cucumber and yogurt sauce. Hala explained the cultural traditions around food as well as the basic cooking styles. This brunch was delicious but filling and needed time for digestion, so we were driven to an essential oils and spices vendor with government accreditation and production to ease our minds about quality. We experienced a surprising and welcome essential oils tour that included ancient Egyptian formulas and processes, such as blue lotus oil, white amber, etc. Additionally, some of the oils were blends and perfumes used culturally and therapeutically in Egypt. Following this interesting tour, we visited two additional vendors also accredited by the government: a papyrus and a cotton clothing vendor with their own mills. Both had very good quality items. We did find purchases in all three, which were unexpected but well worth the visit. Finally, we arrived the lunch location at 1:30 pm at a rooftop restaurant with a spectacular view of the Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza. We could not believe our luck in having this central vantage point for our first experience of the one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and Hala loved sharing her pride and joy in her native Giza with us. The lunch included grilled chicken with grilled lamb and meat sausages, okra in tomato sauce, mixed zucchini and squash, warm pita bread, spicy grilled eggplant and a delicious assortment of sweet pastries for dessert. Had we not had to return to the hotel by 3 pm, we could have spent a full day in this tour! Hala could not possibly be more effusive and extroverted if she tried ---making our experience fun and ebullient!

Perfect Egypt Food Tour - Perfect tour to take before our G Adventures Best of Egypt trip. Our guide, Mo, picked us up at our hotel in the morning along with a skilled driver and photographer, Abdo. We enjoyed a day of excellent and authentic Egyptian food. We ate a giant breakfast at one location, coffee at another (I'm not a coffee drinker but I loved their coffee with milk and sugar), and then made our way to an out of this world roof top bar (I recommend the strawberry smoothie) with a view off the pyramids that will take your breath away. And that was only half the day! The rest of the day we enjoyed more food and learned much more about Egyptian culture. The guide was amazing. We always felt safe and not rushed and never pressured to make any purchases.

Great way to learn while eating your way through Giza - Outstanding tour with Mo (guide) and Hisam (driver). Mo is an Egyptologist and brought a depth of knowledge to the tour. Hisam was a master in navigating Giza traffic. The food stops were excellent, culminating in a lunch with a direct view of the Sphinx and pyramids. Highly recommended.

Road trip with unremarkable food - Car tour with guide stopping for (1) falafels and dips breakfast (2) juice drink (3) Khoustary (rice and pasta dish) (4) coffee with hookah pipe (5) chicken lunch. We were also dropped at two shops (spices and cotton).
After 3 1/2 hours we abandoned the tour. We had not seen any sites, the eating places spread over a few roads in Giza and typically run down “fast food” type places where locals would eat a full meal, rather than allow us to sample local food.
We didn’t think the tour reflected the description or reviews
1) no sight swing
2) a car trip with seven stops
3) shops were unremarkable tourist places
4) the guide lost interest after the first shop and talked on the phone
5) lunch stop was a run down chicken place on a busy street which we’d been taken to the day before for a quick lunch, rather than the Hayat overlooking pyramids in most of the reviews.
6) not much commentary into the food, only a brief overview of Egyptian history which you get visiting the pyramids or any of the museums.
We left the tour before sitting down to lunch (full with food after 31/2 hours) and paid the guide an extra $10 to be dropped in Islamic Cairo.
We paid over $150 for two people for probably $35 of food and $20 Baklava which our guide kindly bought us. Had we known the tour was 100% driven round Giza (not Cairo) we would have booked a walking food tour to see both the sites, experience a wide selection of foods and build up an appetite. I’d advise the tour company to update their description.
Note: the company contacted me on WhatsApp after posting my review complaining and calling me names. I’m not sure if others had a different tour (we went on Friday) but it did not live up to expectations, unremarkable food which we’d eaten similar elsewhere.

Trip started out really... - Trip started out really well with an enthusiastic guide and a wonderful breakfast. After first course we stopped at a perfume shop and didn’t buy anything. After that our guide spent 99% of her time on the phone outside the restaurants handling other business. Perhaps she became disinterested in us because we didn’t buy or something else happened. Luckily our driver stayed with us at the various stops and was engaging. But, we were hoping for a more immersive experience on the food. There is a lot of food, so come hungry. Would be best to have smaller portions and sample more. Also, a market tour to look at various ingredients would be nice to learn more. Also recognize this is a shopping tour in addition to food so keep this in mind. Reviews for this were outstanding, so that’s why we selected it, but unfortunately our high expectations weren’t met.
