Pyramids of Giza - The Giza pyramid complex, also known as the Giza necropolis, is a remarkable site in Egypt featuring the Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, along with their associated complexes and the iconic Great Sphinx. These structures were constructed during the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom of ancient Egypt, around 2600 to 2500 BC. The area also includes several temples, cemeteries, and remnants of a workers’ village.
The Egyptian Museum in Cairo - The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, commonly referred to as the Egyptian Museum (Arabic: المتحف المصري, romanized: al-Matḥaf al-Miṣrī, Egyptian Arabic: el-Matḥaf el-Maṣri [elˈmætħæf elˈmɑsˤɾi]), also known as the Cairo Museum, is located in Cairo, Egypt. It boasts the world’s largest collection of Egyptian antiquities, with over 120,000 items, a significant portion of which are on display. Situated in Tahrir Square in a building constructed in 1901, it is the largest museum in Africa. Among its treasures is Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s collection, including the famous gold burial mask, a renowned symbol of ancient Egypt.
Khan Al-Khalili - Khan el-Khalili (Arabic: خان الخليلي) is a renowned bazaar and souq located in the historic heart of Cairo, Egypt. Established during the Mamluk era as a trade center and named after one of its historic caravanserais, the bazaar district has become a major attraction for both tourists and locals. It is home to numerous Egyptian artisans and workshops producing traditional crafts and souvenirs. Originally, Khan el-Khalili referred to a single building, but today it encompasses the entire shopping district.

National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) - The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is a vast museum (490,000 square meters or 5,300,000 square feet) located in Old Cairo, Egypt. Partially opened in 2017, it was officially inaugurated on April 3, 2021, by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, marked by the transfer of 22 mummies, including 18 kings and four queens, from the Egyptian Museum in central Cairo, in an event known as the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade. The museum showcases 50,000 artifacts, illustrating Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the present.
Cairo Citadel - The Citadel of Cairo, also known as the Citadel of Saladin (Arabic: قلعة صلاح الدين, romanized: Qalaʿat Salāḥ ad-Dīn), is a medieval Islamic fortification in Cairo, Egypt, constructed by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by subsequent Egyptian rulers. It served as the seat of government and residence of rulers for nearly 700 years, from the 13th century until the construction of Abdeen Palace in the 19th century. Positioned on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near central Cairo, it offers a strategic view of the city and dominates its skyline. At the time of its construction, it was one of the most impressive military fortification projects.
Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church - This church holds significant historical importance as the site where many patriarchs of the Coptic Church were elected, starting with Patriarch Isaac (681-692). It served as the episcopal church of Cairo and the episcopal See of Masr (Old Cairo), replacing the former See of Babylon. Many bishops were consecrated here until the reign of Patriarch Christodulus (1047–1077). Tradition suggests that the church was built on the spot where the Holy Family (Joseph, Mary, and the infant Jesus) rested at the end of their journey into Egypt, possibly residing here while Joseph worked at the Babylon Fortress.
Church of St. Barbara - The Coptic Orthodox Church of St. Barbara (Coptic: ϯⲉⲕⲕⲗⲏⲥⲓⲁ ⲛⲧⲉ ϯⲁⲅⲓⲁ ⲃⲁⲣⲃⲁⲣⲁ or Sitt Barbara) (Arabic: كنيسة بربارة, romanized: Kanīsat Barbāra) is a notable Coptic Orthodox parish located in Coptic Cairo. Situated on the eastern side of the Babylon Fortress, it is one of Cairo’s oldest buildings, dating back to the 5th or 6th century AD. Like many Coptic architectural structures, it has been rebuilt several times, most notably by the end of the 11th century.
Hanging Church (El Muallaqa, Sitt Mariam, St Mary) - The Hanging Church is named for its unique location above a gatehouse of the Babylon Fortress, the Roman fortress in Coptic Cairo (Old Cairo); its nave is suspended over a passage. The church is accessed by twenty-nine steps, leading early travelers to refer to it as “the Staircase Church.” Over time, the land surface has risen by approximately six meters since the Roman period, causing the Roman tower to be mostly buried, reducing the visual impact of the church’s elevated position.
Synagogue Ben Ezra - The Ben Ezra Synagogue (Hebrew: בית כנסת בן עזרא; Arabic: معبد بن عزرا), sometimes called the El-Geniza Synagogue (בית כנסת אל גניזה) or the Synagogue of the Levantines (al-Shamiyin), is located in the Fustat area of Old Cairo, Egypt. According to local legend, it is situated on the site where baby Moses was discovered.
