Superb Diving experience with Divers den - Fabulous and professional crew. I was quite nervous as I was going solo for the first and diving after a break. The briefing by the team was comprehensive and they kept checking to see if you're doing okay. Food was great, boat was great and well managed - it didn't feel chaotic even with approx 70 people on board!! Thank you so much Divers Den for amazing experience!! :)

Just do it! - My wife and I chose the two introductory dive pkg. I am a seasoned diver, she had dove in Jamaica and Thailand. The staff gave a very thorough and informative explanation of what was happening and what we would see. Having past experience, I was impressed and my wife was quite comfortable with the briefings. We dove two reefs, with the opportunity to snorkel as well. Timings were met. The craft was quite comfortable. The lunch, coffee tea and water, snacks were excellent. The hot showers on board were refreshing. We dove in groups of three or four to instructor. Safety was always paramount. Carlos the photographer took amazing photographs, ensuring to get individuals and couples, as well as beautiful reef pics. They were able to be reviewed and purchased on the trip back to the marina. Special thanks to our guide Sol! Also to Gabriel whom appeared to be everywhere and a wealth of information. Thanks to all for a great excursion!

The coveted Grade Barrier Reef - Even though we didn't understand the language at sea, we could share our emotions. I couldn't use my phone enough without wifi and could have enjoyed it if I understood more languages.

Not good value for money - Awful trip on the boat due to weather. In my opinion it should have been cancelled and either refunded or credit for another time. 70% people were sick all way, wasnt barely able to eat the food and ocean was so bad My daughter and I didnt enjoy. It felt a waste of money. They should have been more honest , contact us about weather conditions and kindly offer other options. Not good value for money. Would not recommend.

Disappointing. Snorkelers are an afterthought - I booked a snorkeling tour in late Feb as part of an anniversary trip with my husband, excited to see the reef for the first time. What I got however was a rushed, guidless experience that left me not only barely seeing any of the reef, but at points genuinely struggling to breathe and stay above the water with no one there to help me (as a relatively strong swimmer.) I deliberately booked a specific snorkeling tour as I wanted something tailored to that activity seeing as I am unable to dive due to medical reasons and I didn't want to get a second rate experience. When I got to the boat I was shocked to see a whole section of people trying on their scuba gear at the same time. As we were getting settled onto the boat, it felt like we were being herded around like farm animals from spot to spot without any explination. Gear was sort of shoved into our hands and were asked "does that fit?" As someone who hasn't done a lot of snorkeling before, I had no idea what I was looking for and what a good fit should be and it was hard to get anyone's attention in order to ask. For my partner who was nervous about being out in the open water, this wasn't a good start to getting comfortable with the gear that we would be using. The safety briefing was thorough in but rushed. They held up pictures of the dangerous fish that we should stay away from, but made no attempt to make sure we could all see it. Once we got to the first location, we were let off the boat and briefly showed an area in which we could swim around, however that was all the "guiding" we got. I spent about half the time wondering why I couldn't see much until I realised that I was essentially just on the edge of the reef, and I needed to be in a very particular area. This meant however that the whole group of snorkelers were squished in one little spot and I continuously got flippers to the face, and struggled not to run into others myself, especially with the rough waters. My partner was having issues with his snorkel where he kept bringing in water, and the one guide who was visible to us took little time in helping to make sure it was positioned right and working properly. Getting back onto the boat was such a struggle to get a grip on the stairs, with everyone trying to get in at the same time, while also struggling against the strong current that we definitely ran into other people and in-turn had the limbs and flippers of struggling in-experiecned tourists unintentionally in our way as we scrambled onto the steps. Once again, there was little help or guidance on how to get back on safely and there was definitely no structure for such a large group. After lunch, we got to the second location and this is where the experience took an even worse turn. We jumped off the stairs into quite rough water, yet the boat was a fair way from the reef itself so we had to swim, directly into the current to make it out there. Standing on the boat and looking out it looked like a manageable distance, but when you have to swim against the current it was a definite steuggle. Once in the water I realised that I had swapped snorkels with my partner, and now I had the malfunctioning one. I decided it would be best to head back to the boat to get it sorted, as I didn't want to risk my own safety in the rougher waters. When I got back in, it was a struggle to get anyone to give me the time of day as they were all focused on the diving group and gear. When I got someone's attention, they hastily grabbed a loose snorkel/goggle set and shoved it my way without much discussion. I swapped them and headed off again. About half way to the reef though, I realised that this goggle set hadn't had the anti-fog solution applied to it so I couldn't see out of it. Back to the boat I went. When I got on again the second time it was the same experience; trying to get someone's attention was a struggle and then when I was able to ask for help, it was like I was a nuisance and they had better things to do. I was hurriedly given another set of goggles, applied the anti fog, and headed back into the water. Once I got in I realised it was THE SAME FAULTY SNORKEL. Knowing that I wasn't going to get any actual help, I tried to tough it out and hope for the best. By this time, about half of our allowed time in the water had passed and I was so tired from continuously struggling against the current. I am someone who grew up in and around the water, I had a life vest and I was still struggling to make any distance with such rough waters. Once I made it back to the group, I couldn't see much as the reef was quite deep. When I eventually caught up with my partner, he said the same thing and if we stopped to talk for 1 minute, the current pushed us so forcefully that we were basically back at the boat and we're too exhausted to try to catch up with the group (also considering my snorkel was taking in water, I didn't want to risk it). During this back and forth, I was also slammed into the metal stairs by the waves so hard I ended up with black bruising over my hip. I understood going into this experience that Feb/March isn't the most idea weather in far north QLD, however seeing as the company operates through all seasons, and this was advertised as a snorkel tour, I was under the impression that they would understand the areas that they we're going to, make decisions and accommodate accordingly. The second location definitely seemed like an ideal diving spot and through the whole experience, the snorkelers felt like an afterthought. Considering I spent a decent amount of money for the tour ($500 for both of us), I expected at least to go to areas that were suitable and safe for snorkeling. I did not expect to be brushed aside and have regular occurances where I was worried for my health and safety. It was a disappointing day on the reef, when I was so looking forward to a wonderful "once in a lifetime" experience, especially for such a high price. I definitely recommend doing some research if you're a snorkelers and seeking out another company that tailors it's trips to maximise the snorkeling experiences.
