HMC organic farming and cookery class - Alice did a great job showing me around the organic farm then picking the herbs and veg that we were going to cook. Alice explained things very well and we made 4 dishes. Enjoyed the meal we made. Alice is a good teacher.

HCM organic farm tour and cooking class with Chef Alice! - Highly recommended! My 3 friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the organic farm tour (and learning the benefits and uses of the herbs, fruits and oyster mushrooms) and cooking session with Alice! She is the admin, coach captain, tour guide and the CHEF! Super bubbly and highly energetic lady! Totally lifted our spirit throughout the whole experience from 730am-2pm. Very detailed in her explanation, encouraging and always smiling even when she’s perspiring so much from the heat. She has an interesting way to introduce the steps in the preparation for dipping, salad and marinating sauces. We have no problem in communication as she’s excellent in English too. We were all good chef under her instruction and the food we prepared was so yumz! Thank you Alice and team and keep up the good work! 👍🏻

An incredible cooking class - A memorable and very rewarding experience
The adventure begins with a discovery of the garden, then after very clear explanations we take part in a cooking class or each to all the equipment at his disposal
We make the dishes ourselves under the supervision of the chef and we enjoy our meal prepared by us with quality ingredients.
I highly recommend doing a course with this very serious structure
Many thanks for a wonderful day

Amazing wholesome experience at the farm!! - I had ann exceptional experience at this farm with the chef Linh!! This cooking class which comes with your own organic vegetable harvesting is something very special that you cannot find elsewhere in HCM. The chef Linh is very joyful, knowledgeable, professional, and kind person and I was able to ask every questions I had about the vietnamien cuisine, and I left the farm with confidence in continuing the vietnamien cooking at home by myself. Selecting and picking your own green papaya from a tree, several kinds of herbs, and mushroom at the farm with explanation was eye opening, and cooking and eating them in the middle of the farm was a true delight!! I want to thank the chef Linh for his patience, his joyful presence, and especially for the clarity of his explanations. His thoughts and methods were articulated, and very clearly transferred, so I could understand the essence of the balance of the tastes in vietnamien cuisine. This will allow me to find the alternative ingredients when I am back home in France! Many thanks for all the efforts for this experience!!

I can cook Vietnamese! - The day started off by us being picked up at our Hotel by Chef Alice. We then had about a 90 minute journey to the farm, where we were welcomed with some Jasmine tea.
There was a quick introduction to the activity and then we put on our Vietnamese hats and went to the farm.
We harvested Lemon Grass, Kum Quats, various leaves and mushrooms. Also being given about other plants and their local uses in making medicines.
We returned to the cooking area, don’t expect stainless steel ovens and marble sinks it is a quaint authentic simple set up, you’ll be surprised what you can cook in that set up.
The instruction from Alice were clear, concise and informative. Help was in hand if needed.
We cooked Shrimp pancake roll, pork salad, chicken in a sauce and banana rolls served with coconut ice cream. We didn’t have to do any cleaning up, we ate the food as we made it.
All very simple to make and delicious.
The afternoon finished with a graduation ceremony where we given certificates and recipes of what we had cooked.
A really good experience, which I would highly recommend. Alice was great, really jovial and made everything easy.

The best cooking class ever! - We had an outstanding experience with Alice during our Vietnamese cooking class! She was simply amazing, approachable, clear, and so much fun to learn with. Her method of guiding us through each dish made everything feel effortless to grasp and delightfully memorable. And the food, absolutely delicious, every bite burst with flavour. It easily ranked among the tastiest meals we enjoyed in Vietnam.
A heartfelt mention goes to Tan L, the owner. He was an exceptionally gracious host and wonderfully welcoming. His genuine warmth made the experience feel personal and comfortable, even if he does follow Collingwood, we will graciously forgive him that! Tan’s hospitality truly elevated the entire day.
Since we visited during the off-season, we also had a private tour of the Cu Chi tunnels, which added a powerful historical contrast. Learning about that part of Vietnam’s past was deeply moving and unforgettable.
If you seek a cooking class that effortlessly blends super tasty food, heartfelt hospitality, history, and fun learning, this is exactly what you want. Thank you, Alice and Tan L, for making our day so memorable!

Essentials of Vietnamese cuisine - I took this cooking class with Alicia Down. It started with picking your own vegetables and learning about them and their tole in the Vietnamese diet. Alice is very personable and explained everything about the basics of Vietnamese food and the essential spices and sauces to use. We ended up making wonderful appetisers, mainly meal and a dessert under her guidance and the food we made was very delicious and better than most restaurants I have eaten in. This is a must do while in Vietnam. Thank you Alice.

Anywhere but here! - This is not the worst cooking class I've ever been to, but certainly the most disappointing!
I corresponded with Chef Tan before the class, as there were many different reviews with different experiences. It was not clear which this one was. I was also suspicious as he claimed to be "the best" on his personal site, so I wondered if the class was good (the best is usually a gimmick, and in this case it is!) So I asked him which of his courses this trip advisor one corresponded with so that I could get more details. He said "Hot tour".
I asked him how he made the rice paper -- hopefully not in a microwave. He said no. I also said I was gluten free.
Then I got to the class and it was NOT the hot tour (tons of differences). There was no rice paper, and the making your own rice * cracker* without gluten didn't work. We did go pick some things from their garden. We did look at the cows and water buffalo. We also fed goldfish bread (what??). And we cooked a variety of dishes-- deep fried shrimp in a wrapper, pan fried beef noodle veggie salad, chicken in a clay pot, a giant rice cracker plus cashews in some sort of sweet chemical sludge, fried banana a wrapper. I don't eat fried food, and we used around 6+ T of sugar/syrup in our dishes. Part of this is just the cuisine, but there are plenty of other food items that aren't so filled with sugar or are fried. Because Chef Tan provides no details about the menu, I couldn't know that it would be so heavily fried, plus all the sugar. I care about organic items not as part of some gimmick (for him it's purely a selling point), but as an overall healthy lifestyle.
When I confronted him about this not being the hot tour and having no rice paper, he said I had signed up for trip advisor and sorry about the rice paper, but wouldn't give me any kind of discount for misleading me ( I asked because I could see that what he really cared about was money-- this is clearly a business, first and foremost). I wanted my money back 100%, but I was being nice and asked for a discount. He said something about how we are all friends and family, bla, bla bla (my friends don't lie to me to make money off me).
Overall, if you have 80$ to blow and want to waste an entire day doing something that you can do in other cities in Vietnam for about 20$, then you might like this! They are very organized and it's nice to pick your own food. If you actually care about being healthy and don't want to contribute to an overpriced cooking class with a scammer chef, go elsewhere!
Tripadvisor wouldn't let me post our correspondences as proof, so I've decided to file a official claim with the appropriate authorities. That's how much I didn't like this rip-off, money grubbing guy.
