The Journey to Bukovnica

As I embarked on the Prekmurje Tour, I found myself reflecting on the winding paths of my own life. The journey to Bukovnica, with its picturesque villages and flowering meadows, mirrored the landscapes of my own inner world. The tour continued to Murska Sobota, where we walked around Victory Square and stood before the monumental War Memorial to the Red Army. The guide’s stories of the Mura Republic, a small independent state that existed for just six days in 1919, were both fascinating and poignant. It was a reminder of the fleeting nature of time and the impermanence of all things.

The final leg of the tour took us to the Church of the Ascension in Bogojina, a masterpiece of architectural design by Jože Plečnik. Our journey concluded at Lake Soboško jezero, where I took a moment to relax by the water’s edge. The gentle lapping of the waves provided a soothing soundtrack to my thoughts, a reminder to embrace the present and find joy in the simple moments.
