Highlights
  • Buenos Aires - Begin your 9-hour tour with a drive from your hotel in Buenos Aires to the village of San Antonio de Areco. Enjoy views of the pampas en route and listen to commentary about the area from your guide.
  • Museo Draghi - Paradores Draghi is the ideal corner for those who enjoy the cultural attractions offered by a place. There you will access a tour through the sumptuous space where you can see a vast collection of pieces of rural goldsmithing of the nineteenth century, which reveals the mysteries of a period of national identity consecration of the figure of the Gaucho as a main character of that time.

In Paradores Draghi begin your journey through history not only as a spectator, but also as a participant in the process of making exclusive goldsmith pieces that take shape through the hands of artisans recreating the techniques of traditional goldsmithing as their founder, Juan José Draghi, did in the 60s.

Once you get to the town, you will enjoy a tour of the village including a walk around the historical downtown of the city.

  • Parroquia San Antonio de Padua - Located on Segundo Sombra Street, between Alsina and Arrellano. Don José Ruiz de Arellano founded the first oratory in the center of his stay. The foundation of this oratory was very important for the creation of the town. In the years 1720 and 1728, the first chapel was built, it was located a little more to the right than the current one. The foundation stone of the present church was placed on February 7, 1869 and was buried under the central entrance door. Inside it was placed a lead box containing the original records written on parchment, newspapers of the day, medals and coins of the time.
  • Boliche de Bessonart Bar - In the grocery and drinks store, the peasants and country people who came to the town to provide themselves and do errands to the cereal house, the store, the doctor, the bank, used to meet. There “stopped” Don Segundo Ramírez, the gaucho who was later a character in the novel by Ricardo Güiraldes.
  • Estancia El Ombu de Areco - Make your way to the exclusive ‘El Ombu de Areco’ Estancia. At this place, you will have a chance to take rides on horses or go for a ride in a carriage while enjoying some traditional cold cuts, cheeses and beverages. Then, you will enjoy a typical Argentinian barbeque of the finest meats. While you have dessert, you will be able to see a folklore show followed by a demonstration of gaucho skills.

Must do experienece - Lorena our guide was wonderful. Information from the time we were all on board to whem we got back. The Mimosa Ranch was fabulous. Authentic, action packed and enough food and drink for an army. We were stuffed, some other were tipsy. The horse riding was fun but the stars were the dancers. Superb day trip.

Lovely Day at the Ranch, Immersive Experience with Gaucho Family - Some in our group had been on this tour before, and even though we were not taken to El Ombu de Areco Estancia, but to another much smaller, family-owned ranch/estancia, our family thoroughly enjoyed the experience. El Ombu de Areco Estancia was a larger estancia with more options (e.g. ride cart driven by horses for those who were unable to ride a horse), longer gaucho show with more gauchos, and a larger facility - BUT - also many more people attending. We will always love that experience from a few years ago, and we love this new experience at this smaller family-owned “estancia” because of the love and care this family had for our group of 15, the talent of the gaucho owner and his uncle, aunt, and mother in preparing a meal every bit as delicious and plentiful as we had at the larger facility, in sharing their music (gaucho was also a great musician/singer!) and in sharing their traditions provided a different feeling altogether. The thoughtfulness of this family and our tour guide was a highlight. A recent alert on risk of dengue fever, prompted them to be prepared so that when we would arrive all of us would be sprayed down and protected, they went above and beyond to help our family members with mobility issues to enjoy being with the horses and assisted one to even be brave enough to get up to ride one! With the smaller group/smaller facility, the experience was more intimate, and the family answered questions about their history and experience working the land and with their animals, about their thoughts on preserving the gaucho culture, and even had the patience to teach us some dance moves and helped us learn how to interact better with their sweet, gentle horses. The family and our tour guide were careful to ensure everything was timed and we were on board the mini-bus before a severe storm broke out, and that it did, with crazy winds and hail that our driver drove under some trees to avoid on the way back to Buenos Aires. We were only delayed on return about 30 minutes, which we appreciated - better safe than sorry!

Like being at a family wedding - What a great day out! It was a long day but oh so worth it. Our guide Myriam was a delight from start to finish. She engaged in a friendly and interested way with all of us in our small group; it was like being on a trip with a friend! She had a good relationship with each of the venues we visited too, and seemed as knowledgeable as they were. The estancia was a wonderful place, spacious, green, welcoming. It was like being at a family wedding - sitting out in the shade of the trees or dancing with the gauchos and other visitors, listening to the calming sounds of the small band. Thoroughly recommend.

Full day ranch visit - We had a great tour guide - Leonardo or Leo. He was very informative and kept us engaged throughout. 5 out of 5 for him. Plus the food we ate at the ranch was outstanding. The only reason I am giving this overall tour 4 stars and not 5 is because for a short horse ride (the horse walks) in a ranch and a short gaucho show plus of course a fantastic meal, a full day is a bit much to invest especially if you are on a short trip. I would only recommend this if you are in BA for at least a week and can afford a full day for this.
