Unique experience crafting your own tool - Great experience with my tour guide. Picked me up from my hotel and took me to the home of a well-experienced Blacksmith. He'd been doing this for many years crafting to local residents and personal requests. All material used has been recycled (except for brass which is hard to come by). Finished with a Nepalese souvenir which I can use (with a '100 year guarantee')

Unique experience crafting your own tool - Great experience with my tour guide. Picked me up from my hotel and took me to the home of this experienced Blacksmith. He's being doing this for many years crafting for tourists or local residents. Repurposes all the material used in the creation of the Khukuri. Finished with a Nepalese souvenir which I can use (with a 100 year guarantee :D ).

Make your own souvenir in a local shop - A good local experience. We made a knife out of old bus suspension metal and a wooden handle. They let you participate when it is relatively safe too. Easy pick up and drop off.

Once in a lifetime experience - Unbelievable experience. From tour company, to master knife-maker and assistants, to even his family, it was AMAZING!! Very intimate setting. Very hands on. Very participatory. Very educational. If you want a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience, not to mention your own Gurkha Khukuri knife to take home with you that you helped make, this is the workshop for you. Five stars across the board!!

A brilliant experience in hand made knife making by a Master Craftsman - A brilliant tour that I recommend to any one interested in seeing how these beautiful hand made knives are forged from raw materials. The tour included hotel pickup and drop-off with light refreshments. We attended the home of the Master craftsman who has been making knives for over 40 years. From raw high tensile steel we were shown how to heat, cut and hammer the steel into shape followed by grinding, polishing, engraving to completing the knife that was yours to keep. A hands on experience that allowed you to participate in some of the processes was in itself a unique experience. Our tour guide was extremely informative and spoke excellent english adding to the enjoyment of the tour. HIGHLY recommended.

Very worthwhile outing - One of the best things I did in Nepal. An amazing way to get a souvenir that will last a life time. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, we were involved in all the steps of the knife making and the blacksmiths were great. It was a pleasure to see their expertise and experience.

One of the best things I have ever done! - This workshop, no kidding, was one of the best things I have done while visiting Kathmandu! The guide and the craftsman were extremely friendly and skilled. We were allowed to participate in most stages of making the knife—enough so that I really felt that I helped make the knife. The finished product was sharp enough to shave with and they proved it by using it on my arm! Honestly, if you have a half day to spare you will never regret it and you’ll have a beautiful and useful knife for the rest of your life; an heirloom !
