• The Basilica - This famous and impressive cathedral in Eger is built in a classical style with a magnificent interior. Designed by Joseph Hild, Hungary’s most renowned 19th-century architect, the frescoes are the work of Hungary’s most famous fresco painter, who also worked in Italy and on 280 churches in Hungary. Some statues were sculpted by Canova. The Eger cathedral has been recently renovated.

The exquisite baroque library holds a page from Dante’s Divine Comedy and a letter written by Mozart to his sister. The ceiling fresco depicting the Synod of Trent appears three-dimensional.
