My name is Andrew and Budapest is my hometown. I gained culinary experience as a sous chef in America and as a line cook at a 2* Michelin establishment. Since 2012, I have led culinary courses and market tours. An explosion of visual and culinary delights - We enjoyed a full-on packed 2 hours with Andrew, our knowledgeable and gregarious guide, in the vibrant food market. Our tour began at 9am on Saturday which enabled us to beat the crowds and queues. We started with a traditional lángos with sour cream and cheese topping washed down with a slurp of Andrew's homemade moonshine palinka, which was deliciously warming. The best palinka we'd had in Budapest. I was grateful to have a guide for many reasons, but not least to have him do the purchasing in the market where the forint is predominant. We tried a wide array of the most delicious traditional foods. Pickled green tomato was surprisingly good.

Great food tour - Had a great tour around the market, great information about food and history of Budapest and the market hall, more food than we could eat but able to take bits away with us which was nice and try some new, interesting things. The tour is in the morning when the market is still quiet so it means you are able to see everything and get around easily, we went again later in our holiday and it was a totally different experience, was nice to see at different times. Great tour guide, would recommend as a must if you are visiting!

Excellent tour! - This food tour through the market is wonderful. Andrew is knowledgeable about food and all things related to the market. We loved all the foods that we tried and we can’t imagine navigating through this big market on our own. Andrew is kind and passionate about what he does. I would definitely recommend this guided tasting through the market.

Explore the market with a local - If you're looking to do something different from a usual sightseeing tour, go round the market with Andrew. He is very knowledgeable and you can see so much more with a local. We sampled local food, pickles, learnt about local porcelain and embroidery. We were not disappointed.

Excellent tour and great background - We had an excellent tour with Andrew of this very large market. He was friendly, personable and spoke very good English. He navigated us around this very large and complex space, from the souvenir stands right through all levels of food.
He was ready to answer any questions, helped us find good deals on paprika and other food items to take home and plied us with lots to eat - sampling all sorts of Hungarian food. He also gave us a good introduction to life in Hungary - as much as one can get in 2 hours.
This tour fulfilled our expectations, and then some. I would heartily recommend Andrew to anyone genuinely interested in Hungarian food.

100% Recommend - The Central Market is a very authentic Hungarian market that would have been challenging to fully experience if Andrew wasn’t there to lead us through it.
He knew the best stands to eat at and the best stands to buy authentic Hungarian work from rather than resale items from other countries.
His English is perfect (he lived in the US for many years) and we had great conversation about Hungary’s history and food traditions. It was great having someone who spoke perfect Hungarian to interact with those running the stand. He clearly has a great relationship with everyone since they all seemed happy to see him.
The food was great of course. You will try a wide variety of foods that are all delicious in their own way.

A Wonderful Ramble Through Cuisine, History, Geography, Fermentation, and AI - I had a fantastic solo tour of the Budapest Market with Andrew. He certainly knows his food - he's clearly an expert at Hungarian cuisine, understands the impact of history and geography on the food, and makes it all very entertaining. A super tour that was adapted towards my interests - certainly not a cookie-cutter experience.
I'd highly recommend spending some time touring the market with Andrew. What a great two hours!

Enthusiastic Overview of the Budapest Market - Andrew provided a good overview of the market and was very enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of Hungarian cuisine. Entertaining and educational tour and we learned much about Hungarian food from Andrew. Andrew spend several years in the US after being reared in Hungary; as well as having perfect command of English, he understood what would be of interest to us. Recommended.
