Highlights
  • Muzeul National al Satului “Dimitrie Gusti” - Your first stop is at The National Village Museum, an open-air reconstruction of the traditional Romanian village.

“The architecture of a country is, perhaps, the most accurate expression of its history” (M. Cantacuzino). The Village Museum his is the perfect place to discover the authentic Romanian village, with folklore elements and buildings originating from all historical provinces and going back all the way to the 17th century.

Your private guide will show you the reef-roofed houses of Danube Delta, the simple elegant architecture of Moldavia or Wallachia and the exquisitely wooden carved facades of Transylvanian houses. You can admire steep-roofed peasant homes, thatched barns, log cabins, watermills, windmills, wooden churches, oil presses, road crucifixes and many more.

  • Old Town - Romania is the world’s 12th largest wine producer with over 2000 years of viticulture tradition. We believe that knowledge of a region’s food and wine is intrinsic to understanding its culture. Thus, the next stop after the village museum is at one of Bucharest’s oldest wine bars and one of the first to be reopened afther the 89’ revolution.
The wine bar is located right next to Old Town in a century old manor and its traditional architecture, elegant interior and the wine bottles displayed like books on shelves all create a perfect setting for wine tasting.

Whether you’re a casual wine drinker or a true connoisseur, you’ll enjoy yourself as you discover the distinctive “terroir” of Dealu Mare, Romania’s most famous wine region. You’ll be able to taste 4 different types of local wines, along with a plate of traditional cheese & charcuterie.

Additional Information

Ever fantasized about strolling through an ancient village settled right in the center of a metropolis? Embark on this privately guided exploration and experience the Village Museum in Bucharest, a historic bubble amidst a bustling cityscape. Fall under the spell of the local tales and the mesmerizing presence of this open-air museum, wrapping up your tour on a high note: savor authentic Romanian wines, assorted cheese & cold cuts at one of Bucharest’s longest-standing wine bars housed in a historic manor.

“The architectural style of a nation reflects its past most accurately” (M. Cantacuzino). Hence, we explore the Village Museum. Acknowledging the past enables us to understand its culture. In our opinion, the best way to absorb a culture is by indulging in its indigenous food and wines. Therefore, following the museum exploration, it’s time for us to taste some wine! In vino veritas!

Well worth a visit - A most beautiful place to spend a day out of Bucharest. Need a good half day to get around it properly. The park next door and the lake is also just wonderful.

Bucharest trip - The village has several buildings that were a real house from people all over the country. They moved the entire house to this village in order to recreate a real condition. Our tour guide, Mr. Bordan, knows a great deal of the Romenian history. In the wine tasting, we had a opportunity to taste 4 types of Romenian wine.

Excellent business outing idea - The guide was very professional, had extensive knowledge about Romanian history and even the Romanians in the group learned new interesting facts. The wine bar was very cozy and the owner/staff are friendly and open. Excellent parings of wine and platers made this team outing a success.

Very knowledgeable guide - We were a group of 25 people and we all were impressed by quality of information received from our tour guide, adding tons of value to the visit and making it memorable. Most us already visited Village Museum before, but never with a guide, and you could really feel you learn something new at each step. Everyone had a good time. At the end, at the wine bar, there is also the possibility to buy some wine.

Quality excursion - This was an amazing tour from start to finish. We were very well looked after by Mihai. His historical and cultural knowledge at the Village Museum was impressive and he has an obvious passion for the history of Romania. The wine tasting tour was very enjoyable and, yet again, Mihai’s knowledge of the high quality wines was superb. I highly recommend this tour to others. It is excellent value and a thoroughly enjoyable excursion.

Travel back in time into a Romanian village - It was a lovely place. We got a discount for being students. The place is well kept and everything is green and fresh. And places were under renovation, But it's a good sign. I definitely recommend it. Go visit village museum. It's like going back in time. There are plenty of huts and houses, churches etc. from all over of Romania of the 19th - 17th century - just in one place.
