Additional Information

Bucharest, Romania - often marketed as the “Little Paris”, “the Berlin of the Orient” would do it more justice. It is an intriguing blend of oriental medieval architecture, French-style Belle Époque buildings, Soviet-style utilitarian and monumental buildings, as well as American-flavored glass&steel sky-scrappers.

We will make sense of the city together by exploring it from different perspectives. This is not your typical checklist tour: you’ll often hear real-life stories, and learn about real characters that shaped the city, and which are often omitted from the official guidebooks. You will also understand why locals sometimes love to hate their city.

We will explore both mainstream sites, as well as hidden gems.

Great Tour - Very Interesting - The tour was a great experience. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in gaining a broad understanding of Bucharest's and Romania's history. The tour was incredibly fascinating, the guide had a binder full of pictures from history of the city, and in many places he would show what it used to look like at past points in history, many of which corresponded to major historical events. After taking the tour, I felt like I had a much better grasp of the history of both Bucharest and Romania. Guide was very friendly and professional, overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.
