Highlights
  • Beacon 42 Boat Ramp - The Clear Kayak Florida Bioluminescence Tour in Titusville offers an experience you do not want to miss. See majestic sea creatures, gaze at the bright star-lit sky, and experience the wonder of bioluminescence.

Florida is home to two types of bioluminescence, which varies from season to season. In the colder months, the Bioluminescent Comb-Jellyfish takes over our lagoons. These creatures have a unique ability to light up and glow from the water. On our tour, you will get a chance to hold them and watch them light up. Don’t worry though, these jellyfish don’t sting!

In the summer, the dinoflagellate plankton are present and turn the water into a bright neon blue. Every stroke from your paddle creates a beautiful ripple, neon effect. Watch fish swim underneath your clear kayak as they dart by like shooting stars. You might even see dolphins jump from the water, which looks like fireworks.

The sight alone makes the Space Coast an incredible destination for some awe inspiring adventuring. Come join Florida-Adventurer and experience a sight that you’ll never forget.

Please book in advance as this bioluminescence tour tends to book out two weeks ahead of time.

Really enjoyed this tour! - We ended up being the only people on our tour. It was a beautiful night and we were able to hear dolphins and manatees all around us. Clint was our guide and he was fantastic. Would definitely do this again!

So cool! - We did the clear kayak bioluminescence tour with Brian and Clint last night and it was just amazing. My husband and I took our 21-YO twins and we were all just amazed with this excursion. Brian said this was near the end of the season for the bioluminescence, however, we thought it was on full display with lots of active fish jumping out of the water. It was very buggy out but this is just unavoidable since the season for the protozoa is June-Sept/Oct. Be sure to pick an evening not near the full moon for the best experience.

Amazing night, amazing guide Brian - The night was absolutely amazing! We took the 11pm tour and my friend and I were the only one scheduled for that time. We ended up having a private tour with our guide. Talking about our guide, Brian: the absolutely best! He is so sweet and made our experience 100% better! I’m planning to go back with my family this time and I will request our tour to be with him; i would advise anyone to do the same!

Such an interesting evening and pleasure ride - It is a very interesting tour. Best thing for me was the highly interesting science behind the phenomenon of the bioluminescence and other beings in the water and the ecosystem at the lagoon. Katie, our guide, was very knowledgeable!! She made the tour such a learning experience, which it was cool! Only bad part is that we stayed on the water just an hour out of the hour and a half that we booked.

Cool experience, the app is misleading - The bioluminescent was definitely something different and cool to experience. When I initially booked and paid through this app I was charged an additional $9 international transaction fee from my bank because this app is based in London not the United States as portrayed. This was NOT disclosed at the time of purchase. The tour guides seemed a bit disorganized, it took forever to get people checked in, they had no cell service and had to walk around with phones raised high to try and see a roster for the tour. This should have been downloaded ahead of time. We booked the 11pm tour and we were 30 mins late getting into the water. The clear kayaks were the most uncomfortable kayak I have ever experienced. Although it was cool to see the bioluminescent through the boat we found them to be very uncomfortable, fairly easy to paddle but we felt we were sitting way too low. Our tour guide talked too much, we didn't have a lot of time to paddle around and experience other creatures. It was expressed by the tour guide they really needed good reviews because they get a pay bonus and she was poor. She also pushed for tips. The tour leaving late meant returning late. We did get our 90 minutes but it was mostly spent floating and listening to our guide talk. We did not get back to the hotel until 2am after showers we did not get to bed until 3am.

Disappointing - I’m rating this tour a 2 for two reasons. First, there was no bioluminescence to be seen on Sept 23! I’ve done this trip before and it can be spectacular. The Beacon 42 kayak tour leaders should have told us that the season was over, but they took our $75 / person anyway. Second our guide was a disappointment. Many of us couldn’t hear her and when we could hear she wasn’t able to talk seriously and clearly about the wildlife. On the positive side, just being out on the water at night and seeing stars was great!

Trouble in paradise - Due the place the tour was being held there weren’t enough bars for my phone to receive their calls texts. The phone literally read SOS. They weren’t able to let me know their truck broke down and they needed me to meet at a secondary site. I’d arrived an hour early (7pm). I decided to leave 8:24pm at which point two texts came in that explained. By the time my phone was up enough that I could respond it was 8:36pm. which was when they let me know there was no one able to meet me anymore. Not their fault not mine. I’m out $85 though. Bummer.

Wasted Time - I do not recommend A Day Away Kayak Tours. I booked the bioluminescent night kayak tour in January through another booking site for our March trip to Cocoa Beach. On the day of the tour I received a call at 5pm from Josh with A Day Away stating that the tour guide was stuck in traffic and would not make our 8pm tour. He asked if we minded going at a later time that evening or the next day. We chose to go at the same 8pm time the next day. On the following day, we ran into a wreck on the way to the site entering Titusville. The wreck covered both lanes and we were diverted by police to turn around. We noticed that they were at the point of sweeping the glass and decided to turn back around to see if they would let us pass as there is no other way to go around. At this point, it is 7:30 and we repeatedly tried calling the office to let someone know we would be running late. No one answered at the office and the voicemail stated to call the number from our confirmation. The only confirmation I received was from another booking site which did not contain that information. We pulled up to the location that was given to us from Google Maps and the booking site and it was a Napa Auto Parts on Forest Drive. At that point, the guide, Brian, called to see where we were. I explained that we followed the directions that were given to us from our booking. He stated that he didn't know where we were and that he'd "see us next time." He said he would put a note on our account for a refund, but to please call the office. We told him that we had been trying to call the office for 30 minutes several times, but no answer. He said, "keep trying" and let me go. I called the office as soon as I hung up with Brian. Josh immediately answered clearly angry. I told him what had happened and he challenged me the entire conversation. He told me that they do not refund. He offered a voucher to use any time, but I told him that I live over 700 miles away and would most likely not be returning. He said, "Well, I don't know what you want to do then." I said that I would need to dispute the charge with Booking site. He said, "Fine. We'll fight it!" and hung up on me. I did dispute it with booking site and A Day Away lied to them saying that we were a no call no show and stated that I received a confirmation from Viator! I never received a second confirmation from them directly, only the booking site. So, we didn't receive the service we paid $160 for and it was because their guide was stuck in traffic the day before. We offered them grace for that and remained flexible with them, but they could not do that for us? They must really need the $160. I never received a separate confirmation. They are the ones that had to reschedule. The Google Maps directions (screenshot of where it took us attached) were incorrect. And I'm met with unprofessional behavior? The name that comes up when you select directions from our booking came up with another name, so also beware of BK Adventures. It didn't take us long to see the terrible reviews from Google, Yelp, etc. for me to realize that I should have read more reviews before booking. Lesson learned. Please learn from me and read some of the other reviews and book with another outfit They are wild. Lastly, if you are looking to book a bioluminescent tour, be sure to check the seasons. I also didn't realize March is not peak season, so there was a high chance we wouldn't have seen anything anyway. Again, lesson learned. Don't book with this company. I organize trips for a living and this company is beyond unprofessional. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere otherwise you might have a birthday surprise ruined like we did.
