Best Day Trip from Victoria Falls – A Seamless Adventure into Chobe by Land and Water - Absolutely worth the day if you're staying in Victoria Falls! This Chobe day trip was the perfect way to experience both sides of the park—on land and by water—with incredible wildlife viewing from start to finish.
The logistics are a bit complex, with multiple handoffs between tour operators (we had Cuckoo Safaris on the Zimbabwe side and Puku Tours in Botswana). Communication during transitions was minimal, but everything ran smoothly, and it’s clear they’ve done this countless times. Trust the process and don’t be thrown by the quiet handoffs—it all comes together.
The day starts early with a drive through Zambezi National Park, which felt like a mini night safari—we saw hyenas, giraffes, and more before even reaching the Botswana border. Once in Chobe, we had a thrilling game drive, tracking lions and leopards off-road. After a hotel lunch and a two-hour break, we finished the day with a river safari, gliding past pods of hippos, elephants, and an unbelievable variety of birdlife—the boat brought us so close to the animals it felt surreal.
Some of the vehicles and boats were more rugged than others we saw, but the guides’ knowledge and passion more than made up for it. This is the best option from Victoria Falls to experience Chobe in a single day. Next time, we’re staying longer—but this was the perfect intro.

Chobe safari small group - We had Gift as our safari guide and when I say he was amazing it’s doesn’t come close to describing his knowledge and expertise as a guide. We were so fortunate to have him as our guide and I can’t recommend him enough…thank you so much Gift.

Excellent experience, it starts a couple of hours before the rest of the tours which allows you to see many more animals - Excellent experience, very punctual and concerned about everything. On the road that connects Zimbabwe with Botswana before reaching the border we were able to see a large number of animals, buffaloes, elephants, zebras and even a leopard, all thanks to the fact that the tour starts earlier than the rest. Once inside the park we could see lionesses, many elephants, hyenas, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, among others. Our driver was constantly in communication by radio, which allowed us to know where the animals were moving. Fully recommended.

Perfect Day Safari! - My family and I absolutely loved our extended day tour to Chobe National Park with Cuckoo! To be fully transparent, though we booked with Cuckoo and they drove us to the Botswana border, the tour was actually provided by Puku Safaris - as I understand it, they have some partnership and work together. Either way, it was a marvelous experience and I highly recommend the extended day - yes it means getting up before the crack of dawn and it's a marathon of a day - but it's so worth it for the wildlife experience. We lucked out by seeing not only one lion but an entire pride. There must have been close to 20 lions! It seemed like we were able to stay twice as long as the other tours there because we had more time to spare. We also got up close with giraffes, elephants - SO MANY ELEPHANTS - and on the river cruise, crocodiles. Our guide Cobra was fabulous - he seemed to be a local celebrity the way everyone knew him. He was funny and informative. The buffet lunch was delicious. Cuckoo/Puku made the experience - including crossing over into Botswana - seamless. Cuckoo was very communicative and answered my many questions prior to the trip. I could not have imagined a better day trip safari!

Chobe for the day - Very smooth from pick up at hotel through immigration Botswana to Chobe park.
Drive through Chobe in morning, lunch then boat down Chobe river. I had the same guide throughout and he was very informative. Pick up at hotel at 5:45am and drop off just after 8:00 pm.

Amazing 10 day trip Victoria Falls, Chobe, Moremi for my father's 70th, book with Cuckoo!!! - Absolutely incredible, book with Cuckoo. Simon and Tatenda are true professionals and so pleasant. Every detail was looked after, so stress free.
41 year old well traveled American male. Cuckoo arranged a 10 day trip from Victoria Falls for my father's 70th birthday. And celebrated him on a game drive with a lovely cake and champagne. What a beautiful trip, so thankful (and not paid for this, they are really awesome).
Game drives where we saw EVERY animal (incredible leopard and lion experiences). Every driver was so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, fresh. Everything was very safe while also being deep in the wild. We did boat rides, helicopter tours (DO THOSE!) across Chobe, Moremi, around Victoria Falls, and stayed at Elephant Sands (so cool being that close to the elephants), and they made such a beautiful cake for my dad's birthday!)
Every potential headache (you are heading through some remote places) was thought of ahead of time, every comfort given to my father, such a perfectly timed itinerary that was attuned to us.
Really great people, great adventure, well curated. Super happy I booked with them, you will be too.

Awesome experience for a solo traveler! - Everything about this tour exceeded the expectations that I had. The pickup from my hotel was really easy, and when we got to the Zimbabwe/Botswana border, I was explained exactly what to do and where to go. As a solo traveler, I shared the tour with another solo traveler and our guide Cobra, who was awesome. He made sure he knew what we were hoping to see and gave us plenty of time and opportunities to take pictures while keeping us safe. It seemed that many people were going into Chobe for the long weekend, but once in the park it did not seem very crowded. The boat cruise was a lot of fun and Cobra was able to answer all the questions that we had. Coming back into Zimbabwe was also extremely easy (especially since I already had a double entry visa) and the drivers were waiting to take me back to my hotel. I had great conversations with them that made the 45 minute drive back seem very short. It was a long day, but definitely worth it. I had a great time :)
