Women constitute half of the population in this country, yet their contributions are often overlooked in history books. This walking tour of historic Boston highlights the remarkable women who have significantly influenced both Boston and American history. From Puritan women who courageously challenged the government to the first female/Person of Color elected as mayor of Boston, the tour celebrates the extraordinary women of Boston.
The Women’s History tour is most engaging for children aged 13 and above, though all ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult, who is responsible for their own and their children’s conduct and safety. The tour includes discussions on slavery and violence, so parental discretion is advised.
Tours proceed in light rain, but will be canceled in unfavorable or unsafe weather conditions to ensure the safety and enjoyment of participants.
A minimum of three guests is required for the tour to take place.
- Not recommended for travelers with mobility issues. This tour covers over a mile of walking and some of the terrain is uneven, such as old cobblestones, small hills, and a few steps.
