Tasty and immersive experience - Sarah was a charming and knowledgeable guide. Enjoyed every step of this tour — from legendary roast pork to making our own fritters and mofongo on the beach.

Great tasting and culturally immersive day - Sarah was a charming, gracious and knowledgable guide. The tour included discoveries (the lechoneras and tropical fruit market) and experiences (cooking delicious fritters and pounding mofongo) we wouldn’t have easily found on our own. A fun and informative outing.

Personalized Foodie the Real Puerto Rican adventure with Local Guide! - Let me mention, if you enjoy cooking, tasting an experience in Puerto Rico that is more real than any other tour out there. This is the one for you. Tour guide picked us up at our hotel directly at our door we then proceeded to head to small town up a beautiful mountain pass that had local flora and fauna. There were restaurants and souvenir shops tucked in everywhere. Stopping to try the roast pork with an octopus ceviche, was just the beginning. We had very bad weather. We thought that it was going to be a trip with 10 other people and ended up being personalized and catered to us. Our tour guide was Leroy. Had a very clean car that was comfortable was very polite and accommodating. When I begin to say the amount and variety of foods that we got to taste, was a foodie tour guide dream. He literally catered to what we wanted to try. Heard what we were saying, and accommodated as if it was an every day occurrence. If you were looking for an individual experience, this is the stop for you. He helped barter and assisted with the communication barrier as my Spanish was very old. We stopped and tried several local delicacies and fresh produce at a market. He even bartered and assisted with getting the items that we need to cook a meal. Let’s also preface this with saying that if you are a cook or even enjoy cooking a little bit and want to learn how to take a bit of the island home this is where you belong. A rum tasting was fantastic. The local delicacies were amazing but the best part of the trip was actually the experience with the tour-selecting the produce and cooking it in the local open market. Do not make any bones about it if you do not like outdoor cooking or you are not willing to experience Puerto Rico and it’s real and natural state don’t bother this is not the trip for you and I’m sorry, but this is a delicacy and a gem that everyone should eat. We had previously went snorkeling, and went to the beach, and it was terrible weather. We also booked a private tour to go across the island and go to the beach and enjoy the food and the people. It lacked the familia experience and fun. If you don’t mind getting your hands dirty, experiencing an amazing culture and putting smiles on the local, as well as your own face then keep walking. My heart not contain joy I had, and the smiles from the local markets. Getting to experience handmade cheese with guava passion, fruit making Mofongo in the heat and the rain and the humidity was amazing. In an open outdoor kitchen, you got to experience the culture and thankfulness and the love. The tour guide hands-down really cared about what you wanted to do and helped cater to everything you wanted to experience. If you weren’t into something you moved on. I can honestly say if you even have three or four hours go on the tour if you have six it’s even better it wasn’t expensive not for the time the value and everything that you got to see there is nothing like bartering and cooking your own food, and learning about a culture that has such a love of food. I highly recommend doing this the first you get to the town because it will help set you up to make the right choices for what you want to do. 20/10 for stars. You will not be disappointed if you want to see the sights! Worth double the cost! Tried local oysters, pig roast, ceviche, passion fruit, rums, made mofongo with market bartered produce, empanadas, local candies and pastilles and soooo much more!

Great food and rum, and excellent guide! - We did the tour that included the Ron de Barrelito rum distillery. It was fantastic. Our guide was Sarah. She was so nice and very knowledgeable. She gave us interesting facts and answered questions we had. All the food we had was delicious and the rum distillery was really cool. I actually liked the rum there more than Bacardi. We got to try pernil, rice and pigeon peas, pastelles, alcapurrias, passion fruit, and mofongo. Sarah also gave us recommendations for other places to check out in the area. She was lovely and the places we saw were too! We were a group of four (two couples).

Great local flavors - Sarah was a wonderful guide: very knowledgeable, accommodating and easy-going. Very friendly! The tour itself was a good exploration of local foods. The pork dish was excellent-worth the long drive. The market stop was a bit of a bust. The market itself was underwhelming and would recommend skipping this for just a piece of passion fruit. The last stop was a side-of-the road kind of place and the food was great. The rum tasting was a nice touch but they literally just brought them out of the car. Thought that part would be a little more formal. Overall, if you want to see some local spots and eat great food, this is a fun tour. Not much walking so good for older folks.

Not worth the expense - Leroy was a fantastic guide and quite knowledgeable but the overall logistics were not great. A good but of time was spent just driving. The food was great. This was our most expensive excursion with our group and the least favorite- if it didn’t cost so much, maybe it wouldn’t have felt like a disappointment.

Unprofessional- cancellation without advanced notice - We booked our tour for 12/31/23, which showed to meet at 1030am Caribe Hotel. It was our first time in Puerto Rico so we were excited to maximize our time and thought that this would be a fun experience. Unfortunately, we wasted our morning waiting for an activity that never happened. There was no communication from this company regarding reason for cancellation, no answer from the phone calls or voicemail we left, and Viator was also unable to reach this company, Real PR Travel. The lack of advance notification and explanation was very unprofessional as we could’ve done something more while we were on vacation. It’s not courteous or respectful to receive an email stating a refund for this event just an hour prior to the activity.
