- Borealis Basecamp - We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning. It is a 45 minute drive North on the world famous Elliott Highway to Borealis Basecamp. We are located in the heart of the Boreal Forest, with panoramic views of the valley.
Included in your package is a 1-hour dogsledding tour and a 45-minute long reindeer walking tour.
We work with local, passionate mushers who view their dogs as their family, and you will have the chance to understand this incredible sport on your ride through the snowy forest.
On your reindeer tour, our reindeer handlers will introduce you to the herd of reindeer, and you will go for a short, comfortable walk through the forest. Our handler will show you how to lead our gentle reindeer and you will hold the leads, stopping for photos at ideal spots in the tour.
Lunch is held at Latitude 65, our on-site restaurant. The menu consists of hot and cold sandwiches, noodle dishes, and a rotating menu of features and fresh soups.
You may also take part in some of our complimentary resort activities, such as fat tire bike rentals, tubing down a sledding hill, or joining us for a nature walk to the Alyeska Pipeline.

We collaborate solely with local, zealous mushers who regard their dog teams as part of their family. You’ll get to grasp the essence of this exciting sport during your hour-long journey through the frosty woods. You’ll experience a traditional dogsled ride, either sitting or standing, as the eight-canine team guides you and your companion at a pace that’s both relaxing and exciting. You’ll also get the opportunity to visit the dog kennels and a representation of a dog-sled race checkpoint, the point where competitive mushers pause for energy replenishment and respite during their strenuous wintertime races.
During your reindeer tour, our knowledgeable reindeer caretakers will familiarise you with the reindeer herd at Borealis Basecamp, and you’ll enjoy a pleasant short stroll through the woods with these extraordinary creatures. The tour concludes at the reindeer enclosure, where you’ll get a chance to feed the reindeer their cherished snacks and take some memorable pictures!
