With a land area spanning 19 acres, the Botanical Garden is a vibrant tapestry of flora and fauna. It is dedicated to José Celestino Mutis Sage, a famed leader of botanical exploration. The park is deeply involved in preserving natural habitats, providing environment-focused education and undertaking research on Colombia’s diverse plant species, especially those from the Bogotá Savannah. The park, established in 1955 by Colombian scientist Enrique Pérez Arbeláez, boasts a variety of collections that include: the Andean Forest, Oak Forest, Misty Grove, coniferous trees, Criptogamium (non-flowering plants), herbal (medicinal) plants, a rose garden, and greenhouses hosting plants from different climates such as hot and dry, or rainy, among other species.
