Additional Information

Embark on an enriching journey to a Coffee Farm, nestled in the mountains of Bogotá, about an hour and a half away from the city center! We initiate our day with a typical Colombian breakfast, followed by an interaction with our local farmers. We will delve into the significance of being an organic coffee farm and understand the day-to-day errands of a farmer. As we stroll through the farm, marvel at over 8,000 coffee plants. Gain insights on how to manually harvest and process coffee. We then relish a flavorful cup of coffee, brewed exceptionally. Given ideal weather and season, we’ll even get to plant our own coffee! Concluding the tour, we’ll indulge in local gastronomy for lunch. As we head back to the city, we’ll pause briefly to capture the beauty of the Paramos ecosystems and the scenic Bogotá city skyline in our frames. Tour duration: Approximately 7-8 hours.

Amazing trip to a coffee farm very close to Bogotá - It was a wonderful experience, the trip is very close to Bogotá and we spent relatively little time going to the location, compared to the times even within the city. The guides will explain to you the full experience of the coffee making from harvesting to preparing the cup of coffee. The views on the way are amazing and the "páramo" which is a ecosystem located above Bogotá and the cafetal is also worth a look. I am not sure how the harvesting occurrs off season but you should ask in advance (they told us that the harvest occurs during the dry months from November to about March)

Value coffee - I highly recommend this tour to anyone who like to drink and value their coffee and anyone who is interested in the production chain of coffee beans. The tour started at the hostel in la calanderia from where we were picked up by a bus on a 90 minutes drive up the mountain on to 3500 meter and on the other side down again. We arrived at the coffee Plantage where we were warmly welcomed by the owners and their dogs. We were introduced in to the planting of coffee trees, the collecting, peeling, fermenting, washing and drying process of coffee beans. There was good food, stunning views, a funny quiz and of course excellent coffee and time in nature. Good English and nice mangagemne by the carasmatic tour guide nick as well!

Great time at the coffee farm. - I had a great day with Karin at the coffee farm. I learnt a lot about what is good coffee and what considered to be a bad coffee. Also different processes of producing coffee and to processes also. Unfortunately there were not so much coffee berries to be picked as the picking season is already over but still I had a great time there at the farm. The breakfast and lunch was really nice also.
