Highlights
  • Ancient City of Ephesus - Start your tour in the early morning with a pickup from your centrally located Bodrum hotel. Board your air-conditioned coach and after a stop for breakfast (own expense), drive to Ephesus, the best-preserved ancient city in the eastern Mediterranean, roughly a 2.5-hour journey away.

On arrival, enjoy a guided tour of this spectacular Greco-Roman site. Laid into a valley, this once-flourishing city became one of Rome’s greatest trading centers around the 2nd century BC, when it was believed to have been home to as many as 50,000 people.

Listen to revealing facts from your guide as you view everything from semi-intact shops and houses to the bathhouse. Then, gape at the magnificent façade of the Library of Celsus, one of the ancient world’s largest libraries, and once home to 12,000 scrolls. Imagine the cries of long-dead stallholders at the Agora, and gaze at the spectacular Great Theatre, where plays and events were staged. Other relics to note are those of the Fountain of Trajan, Odeon and Temple of Hadrian. You’ll also view the remnants of the Temple of Artemis, a once-mighty temple that was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

After around three hours, leave Ephesus and visit a restaurant for an included buffet lunch of salads, main dishes and desserts. Drinks are also available at your own expense.

Later, drive back to Bodrum, with a stop at a jewelry center on route to see how Turkey’s classic jewelry is made. After another stop for refreshments (own expense) along the way, your tour ends with an early evening drop-off at your hotel in Bodrum.

Well worth it - Thoroughly enjoyed this trip and believe it was well worth the cost. We stopped for breakfast at a restaurant by Lake Baka which had beautiful/ scenic views on the way to Ephesus. Our guide Emet (or Emily) was very knowledgeable, friendly and well organised. Ephesus itself is incredible if you are in to history etc. Felt that the time spent in Ephesus was good/sufficient. Lunch on the way back was a buffet and decent choice of hot/ cold food items. Overall I would recommend this trip.

Great tour guide (Emel) - lousy food options - First off - my 3 star is based on the logistics not our tour guide Emel who simply made the trip worthwhile. She was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, patient and a joy. I really enjoyed her presentation and style. Where I think the trip could improve is the choice of restaurants- the breakfast place was a beautiful spot on the lake but terrible food service. There were no menus and it seemed like the staff was unprepared. The lunch place was awful. The food was stale - worse than cafeteria style. No drinks were included, not even water! Really please find another place for lunch. Notwithstanding the food, the hotel pick up and the luxurious van was nice. Thank you.

Awesome tour - Very hot day but the tour was great. Our guide was good, could improve somewhat in her pronunciation of certain words but was understandable.

Worth visiting - So much history! I was really impressed by the sights. It was hot and there was very little shade, so be prepared with sunscreen and a hat. The guide was great, knowledgeable and friendly. Hotel pick up and drop off were well organized and on time. I felt lunch was rushed and I was not impressed with the food, but everything else was great.

Enjoyed Ephesus, did not appreciate the side grifts - The tour itself in Ephesus was excellent, and our guide was very knowledgable. Ephesus is a breathtaking site with the best Roman ruins in the Eastern Mediterranean. However, be prepared for the guide and tour company to add on agenda items that are not advertised: visits to stores and other sites, all of which cost money and are obviously a grift.

Overall a good tour, though a long day with the extra shops stops - Overall a good tour, it was a very long day with a lot of time taken up with extra activities like visiting a jewellery shop and Turkish delight store. We were at Ephesus for 2 and a half hours which was great, the tour guide Fatma was very good and knowledgeable

Great place to visit just be careful who you pick a tour with - Ephesus is a great place to visit, but the tour incorporated several stop offs that weren't mentioned in the package. It made the day too long and we were not interested in these visits, we just wanted to visit Ephesus. Our pick up was rescheduled to 6.15am from 7am, but they were half an hour late.

It was okay because we... - It was okay because we are both deaf and miss lot of information of whats going during the day. The guide called Emel did not aware that we are both deaf despite I informed her about us and she said "I know I know .." She did some talk to the people but not us except only tell us some brief of ~ Ephusas ruins, go to shop and toilet that is it. We realised we missed the information whats going on. I dont think she is actually aware we are both deaf and need to get history explanatory on the Ephusas ruins. We received the information from Viator through WhatsApp but its not the same as Emel explained the history to the people.

Horrible trip - Most horrible trip ever! A bus full of Russians! A tour guide that almost shouted for half an hour in russian. It was not possible to talk anymore. No respect at all for the situation and fascist russian invasion in Ukraine. We booked Efes, but we were dropped in a second rate gem factory for 45 minutes and afterwards in a turkish delight factory. Maybe that’s what russians are more interested in.
