Spanning an area of 4.8600 hectares, the Mahabodhi Temple Complex was initially constructed by Emperor Asoka in the 3rd century B.C., with the current structure dating back to the 5th–6th centuries. It is one of the earliest brick-built Buddhist temples from the late Gupta period, significantly influencing brick architecture over time. The complex includes the grand 50-meter high Temple and the Vajrasana.
