The Moose is quite shy and is easily scared back into the woods, but normally they are quite co-operative and allow us to get quite near. We know the habits and life of the moose and where we have the best chances to see them.
Elg - the moose is called Elg in Norway, but the moose is not comparable with the american elk. The elk (cervus canadensis) , however, is an entirely different deer (much smaller).
Largest in Europe - the moose is Europes largest land animal, also the largest member in the deer family. A fully grown bull are over 2 meters high at the shoulders and weighs up to 750 kg (1650 lb). Cows seldom weighs more than 470 kg (1035 lb).
Saltstraumen: The moose safari trip will also include a stop by Saltstraumen, the strongest maelstrom in the world. You can walk the bridge and look down in to the powerful whirlpools.

Great and unique experience - It was such a great experience with a very nice and well informed guide. Had the luck to see many moose and lots of other nice view points in the area. Highly recommended!

Bodo highlight - Highly recommend tour. Very informative and enjoyable. We got to see many moose on the night. We had beautiful weather and was able to see the moose.

Really worth to stay up til 2am! - Wonderful eveing/night excursion! We saw about 15 moose (lost track of counting) and one reindeer, some of them from quite close. Ivar was really great in “sneaking to moose by car”, and gave interesting background information about the wildlife, the vegetation and the landscape. Also the stop at Saltstraumen was impressive.

Moose, reindeer and midnight sun! - This trip was amazing - got to see lots of moose, some reindeer, and the midnight sun! Our guide was lovely, very knowledgeable, and I would 100% recommend taking the time to do this.

Excellent guide made an excellent safari! - A better rating is a 4.8... the guide was great in all ways yet didn't speak loud enough at times (the two guys in the back had even a harder time hearing him) and the van used, though comfortable, required the center passenger to exit quickly in order for the back seat passengers to disembark... all when every second can mean the difference in a good photo.
But overall, an excellent tour that started slow but eventually, as it got later, there were ample sightings, some of them quite close. The guide communicated well, was thoughtful in his answers to the questions we peppered him with, and had a great but dry sense of humor. We were quite happy with the moose safari and enjoyed the side trip to see the whirlpools.

An unforgettable Event - Our trip with Ivar was fantastic. His knowledge about all the Moose spots and the areas around Bodø were awesome. We were so much impressed, we saw a lot of Moose and accidentally also 2 reindeers. On our way back to Bodø we crossed Saltstraumen, which was a must to see on top. If you ever have the chance to take the time you have to go with Ivar on this spectacular tour. Enjoy this beauty of nature!!!

Great Moose Safari with Nordland Turselskap - A great experience! Saw numerous moose, individually and in small groups, including one on the road right in front of the car that slowly jogged right past us. Also saw reindeer and a cute little red fox. Ivar is extremely knowledgeable about moose and where to find them, the local environment and Norway generally. He put in a lot of effort to make sure the safari was a great success, including a stop at the Saltstraumen view point. Highly recommended. Chris from Australia

Brilliant trip with lots of moose! - Ivar picked us up from our Airbnb spot on time and drove us out to areas where moose were most likely to be. It was still a little early for them to appear so we also made a stop at Saltstraumen to see the tidal movement. Then we drove along lots of roads trying to spot moose. Ivar gave us lots of information about their habits and we learnt a lot about them. Then suddenly we spotted our first moose, a bull and cow together! After that we saw quite a few, including a mum with a baby running around. We also saw a small herd of reindeer. There were lots of opportunities to stop and take photos safely, Ivar was really flexible to what we wanted to do. A brilliant trip, thank you!

Best Safari ever! - What an experience! We saw about 30 moose, some of them very close including calves. Ivor is a very knowledgeable and experienced guide and will answer all your questions. He seems to really love his job and you will totally profit from that.
