The Divin, a type of brandy, is a liquor derived from wine produced through a dual-distillation process, using locally-sourced base materials. These distilled wines are left to mature in oak barrels for a minimum of three years. The moniker “Divin” is inspired by the Romanian phrase “din vin”, translating to “from wine”, and conveniently, it also translates to “divine”. This duality in the name represents the evaporation of a significant portion of the distillates, likened to an ascension to the heavens, which is thought to contribute to its superior quality. ‘Barza Alba’ S.A., or The White Stork, one of the most eminent producers of Divin in Moldova, began operation in 1944 as a Wine and Brandy Factory in Balti. They offer an educational journey into the different classifications, fragrances, shades, and tastes linked with the beverages they offer.
