The Divin, a type of brandy, is a spirit produced through dual distillation from local grapes, adhering to tradition. The distillates mature for a minimum of 3 years in oak barrels. The moniker “Divin” traces its origins to the Romanian term “din vin”, translating to “from wine”. Concurrently, in Romanian, ‘Divin’ signifies ‘divine’, a notion backed by the belief that much of the distillates evaporate, metaphorically rising to the heavens as a sacrifice for the high quality achieved. A key player in the Divin production market in Moldova is ‘Barza Alba’ (The White Stork) S.A., established in 1944 as a Wine and Brandy Factory in Balti.
