Exceptional house and gardens 5 minutes from Birmingham city centre. - I had never heard of this place before but would happily recommend it to anyone. A hidden gem best describes it. A magnificent arts and crafts house, beautifully presented, which feels like a real home. The decoration and furnishings are wonderful and the history of the family and their connections to Birmingham is fascinating. The extensive gardens are magnificent and so well kept. What an absolute pleasure to slowly stroll around and absorb it all. Do pop in to the printing press for a most interesting demonstration of machinery dating back to 1440, together with a history lesson on how printing began here. The cafe offers reasonably priced refreshments and food. My friend and I spent over 5 hours there and loved every minute.

A gem in the heart of the second city - An absolute gem in the heart of Birmingham. I had driven past the venue many times before but had never visited. I’m so glad I did. The house and gardens were fabulous and far more extensive than I had imagined. The tea room sold lovely lunches as well.

Knocks spots off Birmingham Botanical Gardens - We visited on a glorious sunny day when the gardens looked utterly glorious. Everything about this beautiful house and gardens is curated to perfection. Don’t miss the Japanese bridge, the scullery and the beautifully trimmed topiary. The nut walk and the glasshouses containing rare orchids and carnivorous plants are also a must-see. The tea room serves a lovely menu at reasonable prices and the team are efficient even during busy periods. Gift shop is nice, but there could be a wider range of plants for sale and I loved the second hand book shop. Great visit especially for older and less able family members who appreciate lovely flora.

What a treat! - We had a fabulous garden club group visit, Dan the Head Gardener was great and utterly passionate about the plants and garden. For a plantaholic like myself it was fantastic, I was bowled over by the diverse collection of plants. Well done to all involved.

Blight on experience of superb gardens. - Tea room at Winterbourne absolutely appalling. Winterbourne itself so good that it is a travesty. Extremely surly staff memberLeisha with another girl who was being verbally monopolised by some private repartee throughout. Rude, rude! Dismissive of me throughout order, no interaction, no smile, no eye contact, dirty look and rolling eyes due to my interrupting by placing order. then tea consisted of tepid water in a pot and a teabag hidden elsewhere under a saucer. This is not tea. Adjacent visitors complaining coffees cold and completely without coffee content ? Terrible. Arrogant. Still reeling as I love this place so much.
