Otter Experience - Yesterday I visited the Sea life centre to do their otter experience!! This was an amazing experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff are super lovely (I’m so sorry I can’t remember anyone’s names) and they really know what they’re talking about they are full of helpful information. I was worried as I was doing their otter experience by myself but the staff made me feel comfortable and were all really lovely to me the whole time. Thankyou for an amazing day out :)

A wonderful guide who made our day extra special - I just wanted to leave a review for our wonderful guide, Greybeard. From start to finish, he really looked after us. On the way to my mum’s VIP Otter Experience (which he was very impressed I’d managed to book on her actual birthday!), he stopped at several enclosures to share fascinating facts about each animal. We were all so impressed by his knowledge and his great sense of humour. He even took us to feed the sharks, which I can’t thank him enough for. I have a bit of a shark phobia, but he made me feel completely at ease - and I’m so glad I faced my fear and did it! I honestly don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who went as above and beyond as Greybeard did that day. He made my mum’s birthday extra special, and we are so grateful. Greybeard truly deserves recognition, and I hope this little review does just that. Thank you, Greybeard! From, The Breslins (Lauren, Ryan, and Debs)

Sharks after dark is absolutely worth the money! - We paid for the 'Sharks after Dark' experience, which is pricier than a standard admission ticket, but as an autistic adult who had dreamed of experiencing the tunnel alone, it was absolutely worth the price! We had a totally private tour after hours led by an amazing person named Leaf (Leif?) who answered every single question thrown at them and was such a great tour guide. The experience was supposed to last 1.5 hours but it was closer to 2 hours. Holly and Beth were also brilliant and made us feel very welcome and opened the gift shop for us. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

A lot of money for the experience - We went here on a Saturday for our children’s birthdays, £100 for 4 of us. We were quite disappointed that it took us 30 mins maximum to walk around, staff were too busy chatting to each other to interact with us, especially in the 360 tunnel! The nicest staff we met were on the till in the gift shop! For the cost there are much cheaper days out that are a lot more enjoyable and a lot more to see!

Tired experience with good staff and well looked after animals/fish. - The animals and aquatic life at Sea Life Birmingham are obviously well cared for and loved by the staff. The knowledge the staff has not only on the species but on each specific creature is wonderful and brings home real life stories of how each creature arrived there and their individual personalities. However the venue itself is tired, old fashioned and the layout is extremely confusing. It needs throughly updating - both the animal/ fish areas and the customer areas and experiences. The VR area was good, but probably not worth an additional £7pp - which if you bring a family you need to think is £28 more! The tunnel is amazing as a concept and super to spend time in watching the amazing display of fish, sharks etc, but doesn’t look as good as in the literature/web photos - it’s a lot smaller and got worn and a bit dated. It’s definitely a worthwhile couple of hours, but Merlin needs to spend some money there updating it for fish, staff and customers!

Fair - The staff were friendly The animals seemed happy.. I was annoyed at the no cash policy as my phone had died and I wanted to pay for the photos that had been take of us and buy my grandson a gift.. It has really upset him and he says he does not want to go again which is a shame

Too expensive and run down - Really rundown and overpriced. £27 to get in on a standard ticket, kids cost the same if they are over 2 which is crazy! We were here less than an hour as that’s as long as it takes to get around and we were going very slow

Avoid Avoid Avoid - Not really sure why it's called the National Sea Life Centre. Perhaps it was the best in the country when it opened but that seems to have been a while ago. It still has a prime location in the city at Brindley Place (canals, restaurants, galleries and more) and from the outside it looks very inviting for the unsuspecting tourist. Once inside however, it's a different story. The layout is rather strange as while the place is rather big, there are a lot of corridors and passageways without any exhibits. Add to this the space occupied for activities that require additional payment such as photo taking and all the visitors are crammed into a few small spaces trying to catch a glimpse of something. Even the underwater tunnel which looks great in pictures was more trying to avoid the people around you than actually seeing any creature. It was so uncomfortable we were out in just 20 minutes. The only good thing that came out of it was that we had more time to explore the rest of Birmingham during our visit there.

Disappointed - I was surprised at how small the place is for the amount of money it cost. The whole experience took about an hour there was no cafe as described. We left with the feeling of "is that I"

DO NOT GO - NOT GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY Spent £66 for me and my girlfriend to go. We drove over 2 hours to go and only spend about 20-30 minutes actually viewing it all. We were both disappointed at how poorly treated the animals looked. The turtles were kept in very small enclosures and they were very cramped in to the point they were basically ontop of each other . The jelly fish section of the attraction looks as if it is just used to ‘fill up space’ with some holes cut into the wall and some jelly fish chucked in them. Their enclosures had NOTHING in them apart from the jellyfish. The whole attraction as a whole was a big disappointment and definitely expected a lot better than it was. Personally I would save your time and money and go somewhere else in Birmingham.
