Highlights
  • Kananaskis Valley - Listen as the professional guides explain how to paddle and give safety instructions for your epic 1.5 to 2 hour adventure down the Kananaskis River, which originates in the Canadian Rockies and flows 46 miles (74 km) before emptying into the Bow River.

Relax as you cruise along the calm parts of the river, taking in the scenery of craggy mountains and verdant trees. Keep an eye out for wildlife like eagles and other birds soaring overhead and bears or deer walking along the banks of the river.

But don’t relax for too long — this is still an adventurous river. Listen as your guide directs you to navigate the periodic rapids. Hang tight as you bump up and down over the white water as if it were an aquatic bronco. When your rafting adventure comes to an end, you’ll be rewarded with snacks and high-fives, before relaxing on the ride back to your starting point.

  • Chinook Rafting - After pick-up from Banff or Canmore (optional), take a brief but picturesque ride through the Canadian countryside to the tour meeting point.

Once you’ve signed a waiver and geared up at the riverbase, you’ll be transported in a comfortable bus to the riverbase to begin your whitewater rafting journey.

Highly recommend Kananaskis rafting experience! - We had an amazing rafting experience on the Kananaskis with Chinook rafting! Our guide, Rachel, was awesome - she was great at instructing the group, very personable, and highly knowledgeable about Banff in general. The rapids (class 2/3) were good for the novice adventurer - some pretty strong rapids for the first half and then a pretty chill ride the second half. Our son was too young to do class 4 (11 yrs old), which we would likely do if we went again. The whole group really emphasized safety and had great energy to make it a memorable experience.

The attention staff gave... - The attention staff gave to those of us on the raft was great! Richard asked so many questions to get to know us and educated us so much on things we were seeing down the river and also other fun Canada facts. Being from the states we appreciated all his tips after our rafting trip.

We were hesitant to go - Smiles all around! I’ve avoided rafting for years out of fear, this was a great first. Rachel taught us all we needed to know to be safe…and fun.

Trip Advisor, get your directions straight!! - Trip Advisor's emails sent us to the wrong rafting company!!!! We then had to rush a fair distance to the correct company. Chinook rafting had great staff and we shared the boat with a wonderful group, however there's a lot of down time and waiting for a fairly mediocre rafting experience. Would recommend this trip for families with young children but it's not a great experience for adults.
