Amazing - What a great experience. I watched Agnes, with great patience and care help a customer learning to snorkel. The history of the area and Hawaiian mythology was outstanding. And the sea life was absolutely amazing. I could not have asked for a better experience.

Totally worth it!! - Absolutely amazing!! There were six manta rays that came out to dance for us!! And they just kept circling and circling!! My husband is still raving about the experience!! I loved it, but also discovered I am slightly more sensitive to “bobbing up and down” than he is- if motion sickness is even a remote possibility for you, I highly recommend a dose of dramamine😜

Great way to see the reefs, fishies and the west side of Big Island - Family of four, two younger girls had a great time with Captain Robert going to Kealakekua Bay (Captain Cook) and Two-Step for snorkeling. Turned out we (four of us) were the only ones taking the morning trip on Easter Monday, so a private excursion! Boat is nice and covered, which helps to get out of the sun when on board. Robert is a Hawaiin and has lots to share regarding geology, geography, and history of the Big Island beyond just our two stops, which are themselves historically significant.

Mantas and Deluxe Snorkel: Great with some room for improvement - This review is for both the Night Snorkel with Manta Rays and Deluxe Snorkel trips, and the rating reflects the combined experience. The night snorkel with the manta rays was amazing! The site isn’t that far from the boarding area and, once there, everyone is organized in groups. [A couple of things to note/remember: The trip takes place at night, so the water is a little cooler. To get in to the water you have to slide off of the side of the boat and then quickly move down the floating boards to allow others to get into the water. Once in your spot you have to take the provided pool noodle, loop it around your thighs and slide your ankles on top of it so that you can be in the proper position. This all requires some degree of agility.] Once in position you are face down in the water with the lights shining down and, shortly, the manta rays swim up to you - up close and personal. For most it was an incredible experience, for others it may have been a little frightening as the mantas swim with their mouths open and you can see right into them. There are other boats/companies in the same area and you frequently hear squeals (whether of delight or panic I can’t say) coming from all over. You’re in the water for 40-45 minutes, which is plenty of time. A ladder is lowered to help you exit the water. As for the Deluxe Snorkel trip it was a very good experience with two areas for improvement. We got to the first stop and our driver (James, if I recall correctly) and Agnes showed us where we were to swim. We got in the water and followed the path he had indicated. The snorkeling was good with lots of fish. When we were ready to get out we swam back to where we were left off and….the boat wasn’t there. I actually swam up to an identical boat, thinking it was ours, only to find a different driver and mate. I asked if they knew where James was and they looked around and spotted him on the other side of a couple of other boats. Fortunately we had enough energy left to swim over and get out. It would have been helpful if he had told us where to meet him if he was going to relocate the boat. Once everyone was back on board we were told the history of the Cook Memorial and of the area. We then moved on to the second spot. Again, James pulled in and told us where the swimming boundaries were. We seemed to be somewhat far away from the shore, but he said that it was too shallow for him to go farther in. We got in the water and soon discovered that it was still pretty deep even 20 yards closer to shore, so not sure why the boat was out so far. The snorkeling was okay; not as good as the first spot. After a little while we decided to return to the boat knowing that we had a little farther way to swim and got back on board. On the return trip James stopped at a couple of historic spots and told us of the significance of the areas. It was clear that he was proud of his heritage, and rightly so. The entire trip was good but those two times when we felt unsure/uneasy about the location of the boat could have been avoided, thus my rating.
