Manta Ray tour- do fun! - This was a once in a lifetime experience! I felt the manta rays actually recognized our tour guide, Jenny, and did multiple barrel rolls to say “hello” to her. So glad we did this experience. Thanks to the guides and boat captains for a great time!

Amazing 8 manta ray views - We had Shelley as our guide and Dennis as our captain, they made the whole experience amazing. We were out with the rays for about or maybe even a little over 30 min. We were lucky enough to see 8 rays and they all were so gentle and loved to swim up close to you. The whole tour was amazing would definitely recommend!

Once in A lifetime experience - This is the second time we swim with the manta rays but I have to say we liked it a lot more. The best part is how short of a boat ride it is from the dock to the actual place you get off. Bryce was our guide and he was great helped everyone get on the board and dropped some knowledge while we were in the water. Would definitely do it again.

Less than 20 minutes in water saw only 1 ray - This operation seemed the least convenient of the ones that went out. They first have you meet at the store to check in and get your gear then go to the boat where they say is no parking but there is. But the big thing is we only had 20 minutes tops in the water. They told us we would have 30. We got in the water right at sunset which was after 7. It took awhile to get in and out of the water and there is travel time on the boat to get to the boat ramp. Our entire boat was unloaded and off the boat at 7:37. I looked at my watch and I was the last one off the boat. There is ZERO chance we got 30 minutes in the water. And that might have been fine if the experience was great but we only saw one ray and it was from a bit of a distance. This excursion was a dud. The staff that went out was nice but everything felt rushed and they didn’t give us the time in the water promised. I just wonder if we had had the full time in the water if we might have seen more. The excursion ended 23 minutes earlier than it was supposed to. I don’t recommend this company.

Unsafe, poorly managed — shocking experience with Dolphin Discoveries - I’ve never written a review like this before, but our manta swim with Dolphin Discoveries on the Big Island was deeply unsafe and extremely disappointing. First, the boat was overcrowded, and no proper life vests were provided — not even for a child around 8-10 years old. Everything felt rushed, and we were pushed into the water without proper instruction or prep. Once in the water, we were placed too close to each other. I later found out that two people didn’t know how to swim, and no one from the crew responded. I myself suddenly felt a terrible burning sensation on my feet — I screamed for help, and it took at least two minutes for someone to approach me. Only afterward did I realize I had likely been stung by a Portuguese Man o’ War — and I wasn’t alone. Multiple guests had been stung, even on the face and neck. The crew barely reacted. When one staff member alerted the captain, he casually dismissed it. No one offered us comfort or even basic information. When I tried to explain to one of the crew that he had failed to help me properly, his response was, “I didn’t understand what you were saying.” This experience was traumatic, not magical. If you’re considering a manta swim, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere — safety and professionalism should come first. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.
