Must see farm tour with outstanding chocolate products - An outstanding experience!! Would highly recommend this excursion if you have any extra time n the Hilo area. Our AirBnB host recommended it to us. It is a small family owned cacao farm that produces craft chocolate. The tasting was so informative. It is very comparable to a wine tasting and 14 varietals were sampled during the tour. We did not have the time to take the full farm tour but would have loved to do that. Wren, the owner/farmer, gave a very informative lecture on the history of cacao and described how it is processed. He was very passionate about his trade and made the event quite personable. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone with an interest in history, manufacturing and/or who is a chocolate lover!

Learned so much about Cacao! - Wren was a fantastic, enthusiastic host. He is doing leading research on cacao plants so has extensive knowledge. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-hour stay. Fresh cacao juice was a delicious surprise that you won’t experience again. I have a new appreciation for cacao thanks to Wren and this tour. Highly recommend, and the drive to the farm is nice, too.

Amazing chocolate experience - During my husband and my latest trip to the big island, I decided to book a chocolate tasting with Honoli'i Orchards. We were staying in Hilo, so it was perfect and a short drive over. The drive itself will take you through a neighborhood and then up a road with a bunch of "No Trespassing" signs, but once you book a tour, they give you a Google Maps pin, so trust me it is leading you the right way! The tasting takes place right in the middle of the gorgeous orchards, with breath taking views! You can walk around the orchards to look at cacao trees and everything before the tasting starts. The tasting is very comprehensive - from showing you the different stages a cacao pod starts from, to tasting the cacao pulp fresh, to not only a history of the orchards, but the history of cacao if you're not familiar. Ren led the whole process and was knowledgeable and super passionate about their work at the farm. But the reason you're there - to taste a LOT of chocolates and I promise, they will all taste different! We had 14 different chocolates, along with cacao shell tea and cacao pulp juice! And everything you taste, you can also buy to bring home (except the pulp juice, for now)! An exceptional experience that I highly recommend to any visitor to the big island! Honestly, my husband and I had such a good time, we would do it all over again next time we visit.

This place is the real deal! - The best thing I did during my week-long visit to the Big Island. Wrenn and Jude are so welcoming, wicked smart about cacao, and deeply connected to the land. The overview of cacao botany and cultivation was fascinating, and the chocolate was excellent!

From Bean to Bar - unique, beautiful, and delicious - We visited Honolii Orchards to do the full chocolate tour and tasting and I have never experienced anything like it. The three and a half hours flew by as our incredibly knowledgeable tour guide and accommodating host taught us about everything from cacao pollination to farming history to fermentation and processing. The chocolate was exquisite and the tasting is bottomless and plentiful, but the most unique part is sampling the tart, sweet, delicious juice slushy from the cacao fruit, and the aromatic and luxurious cacao tea. We were kept comfortable every step of the way with their supplied umbrellas (good for sun OR rain!), water, chairs, sunscreen, and fresh fruit. I highly recommend a visit- it’s worth every minute and every penny.

Wonderful experience. Delicious chocolate - We had the absolute pleasure of having Colin as our tour guide and tasting partner. Colin grew up on the farm so his excitement, knowledge and passion are in ever word he speaks. We started in the orchard tasting plup from the cacao plant, we received a little history of the farm and then went into the beautiful tasting room. The views are breathtaking but the Chocolate is to die for! Book this hour and a half tour you won't be disappointed! Colin walked us through the island that each Chocolate came from, we talked tasting notes, and enjoyed awesome chocolate and wonderful conversation. This was one our favorite experiences on the Big Island! Book the tour, Eat the chocolate and Support local farming on the Big Island!

One of the best parts of our trip to the Big Island - This was absolutely worth the drive from Kona side. We did the shorter tour and loved every minute of it. We found the guide to be so knowledgeable (he has an advanced degree in the field!) and very friendly. We learned and enjoyed it a lot!
