Great experience at the Abalone Farm - A very interesting tour led by our guide, Kai. Approximately a half hour Uber ride from Kailua pier in Kona, my husband and I (in our 70’s) thoroughly enjoyed this one hour walk around (with a cane) tour of the farm. Kai explained in detail many things about Abalone, how they mate, grow and taste. We purchased a few souvenirs and had lunch next door at the Kona BBQ food truck. Great experience , highly recommend!

Fascinating and Interesting - We needed something to do to kill time before our flight home and decided to take this 1-hour tour and then barbecue our own lunch before getting on the plane. We didn't really want to know how abalone was cultivated...we just wanted to eat some because we knew that it was good already. Our tour guide, Carlos, was very knowledgeable and personable. It actually turned out very interesting and hands-on. Because we were the only people on the tour, we had a private tour. My husband ended up talking to Carlos about surfing since he surfs, too. The abalone was so ono (delicious) that we're planning to order some and have shipped directly to us. I want to try cooking the seaweed in an egg omelet like Carlos spoke of and also cooking it with cheese. Mmmmmm! We didn't do the barbecue after because my husband didn't want to get all hot and sweaty before getting on the plane. I'd highly recommend this tour for anyone, especially if you just like to learn. It opens your eyes to another world you never knew.

Wonderfully Great Abalone Tour - best hr spent!! - Wonderful tour with a lot of information about their farm, the abalone life cycle, the seaweed growing farm and their processes. Loved it!!! The guide Kai was very knowledgeable and made it fun and interesting. You have a chance to touch live abalone, see moving creatures and the best thing - eat abalones cooked different ways. We also got a chance to see live, moving sea creatures such as sea urchin, black star fish, sea cucumber, and jelly fishes. Highly recommended this tour for folks of all ages.
