SUPERB TOUR...learned a ton, fast paced, really interesting!! - This is one of the most interesting tours I have ever taken. Carlos has taken time to learn a lot about abalone and the process, growth, sea weed, and tastes were all fascinating. The time spent was all super interesting and fast paced and seeing all of the tanks loaded with specimens and understanding the location of the farm and perils facing the critters was good. I had never been brave enough to taste it before, but tried the three ways offered and it was actually pretty good. I HIGHLY recommend the tour.

Abalone Farm on the Big Island - This is probably one of the most interested places to visit while on the big island. Carlos our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He showed us all aspects of the development of the abalone. He was able to answer all our questions. Tasting the abalone was an interesting experience. I would go on this tour again when I'm on the big island.

Lots to know about Abalone - This one hour tour is very informative. We learned about how they are grown, the different sizes, the water temperature they need to have to survive, the special algae they produce on the farm to feed them all, how they are sold and shipped. It was so interesting. The guide even put one on its back so we could see how it flips itself over. The guide took his time to make sure we could see everything and answered all of our questions. At the end of the tour, he cooked up a couple for us to try. Tasty!

Excellent tour! - This tour was absolutely fascinating. Such a knowledgeable guide, and so much information about the industry of abalone farming and growing the seaweed that they eat. And because we are from Oregon, it was especially interesting to know that this technology originated at Oregon State U. We highly reoommend this tour.

Very educational tour - Learning about abalones, touching them then eating them was a great experience! I wasn’t too sure if my teens would like this, but they both had a great time. The guide talked too fast to catch everything, but he was funny and had a good sense of humor.
