Highlights
- Kahalu’u Beach Park - This is a private one on one lesson where you will get the maximum attention with your own personal instructor. Once arriving at the beach, you will be sized up for gear with a foam top surfboard, reef walker surf shoes to protect your feet and a SPF surf shirt to protect against sun burn and surf rash. After getting outfitted with gear a hands on demonstartion will take place covering all the fundamentals of surfing, including proper technique and etiquette, the pop up method and a detailed on shore and in water safety briefing. All lessons are 2 hours total. Complimentary drinking waters will be available after each lesson.

Surf lessons for younger grandkids - We got our young grandkids private lessons. They were attentive and worked very hard. The kids had a great time. The group were welcoming when we first got there too. We highly recommend you use this company!

10/10 LOVED IT! - Our instructor, Brady, was amazing. Super chill and made the experience all around a really great time. Knowledgeable about the water and super easy to talk to and helpful. Awesome for first time surfers. Best experience, highly recommend Ohana Surf Lessons!

Great surf instructor - Instructor Kaleo was great. Arrived on time, had surf shirt, booties, foam surfboard and water for the lesson. It was my nephews first time surfing and Kaleo helped him get to where he could catch a wave on his own. We then rented boards from him the next day for a very reasonable cost- and he also threw in booties & surf shirts to use. Would highly recommend him and we will book with him again if we return to Kona.

A blast! Just trying was tons of fun! - We did a semi-private lesson for a family of four with teens. It was a blast. The teenagers took to it immediately and managed to stand up more than once. The parents never made it up on the board, but we laughed and had a great time. Kaleo and Kea were great teachers, very easy going and just went with the flow. You will be sore the next day, but it was totally worth it!

Great private lesson! - My adult daughter took a 2 hour private lesson with Koa during our stay on the Big Island. She had a great time and was able to get up right away! He was at the meeting spot early and it was easy to find him given the clear communication beforehand. She really enjoyed her time with Koa and said he was a great instructor and she was grateful to be able to take the lesson. Thanks Ohana Surf Lessons!

Surf’s up in Kona! - Kaleo’s instruction today was informative, helpful and super fun! I joined a semi-private lesson group solo, and had a blast receiving a refresher on surf tips and catching some waves in a beautiful little semi-secret bay that our group had all to ourselves! Highly recommend Ohana Surf Lessons to anyone looking to get out on the water while on the Big Island. You’ll have an amazing time :)
