A great way to see a city - These hop on hop off buses are always a great way to get my bearings when I visit somewhere new. We visited Muscat as a stop on an MSC cruise and this had more appeal for us than the organised excursions. We actually stayed on the bus for a two hour round trip and didn't feel inclined to explore any further. The commentary was great and there was music that filled in the gaps. We will always try these buses and this is one of the best.

Excellent service - We were on a cruise ship and the Big Bus came right to the cruise pier, picked us up and took us all over the city and marina area. In both Dubai and Muscat we were very pleased with our Big Bus experience and would encourage anyone to use this company. Went our of their way to accommodate us.

Great way to see the main see sights in Muscat - We had a lovely tour of Muscat with Big Bus. It’s a flat city and very spread out, so unless you have your own car (or don’t fancy driving) then this is a great way to see most of the main sights (the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is nearer the airport, so you might have to visit that separately). We found the most useful stops were the one near the National Museum and the Al Alam Palace, and then the one on the Corniche near Muttrah souk. We’ve taken the Big Bus in many other cities (Las Vegas, Shanghai, London, New York amongst others) and always find them an excellent way to get your bearings and see all the main places in one go, before we go back to visit our favourites in more detail. This one was no exception. The only niggle is that perhaps the price is a fair bit more than the equivalent in other cities - but overall, we still enjoyed it very much.

Few nice spots to see - Including several areas along the ocean, with 1 drop off at one of the beaches (not that great in my opinion), but if it's your 1st time I guess it's worth over an hour & half of your time if you only stay on.

Very disappointing at a costly price - we paid for a 2 day event..the first day we were told we will be taken round but would not be allowed to get off at any site...the second day we got off at 4 sires and at Parliament we were not allowed to get in and at the churches only one was accessible...we also got onto one bus which took us to the port at Muscat and had to wait for over an hour for another driver...

Don’t bother - Not a lot to see in muscat it took 1 hour 20minutes to do the whole tour and from the top of a bus even less to see . The price is a complete rip off - get a taxi it’s cheaper.

Bad service, incredibly expensive prices, not recommended - Just like in Abu Dhabi, the service of Big Bus Tours in Muscat has really low quality. The service offers you a good example of the importance of strong competence between different providers in order to improve the quality of the service. In Dubai, the competence with the buses of City Sightseeing obliged the buses of Big Bus Tours to improve the quality of the service, with competitive prices, good infraestructure and continuous support of the personnel. On the contrary, luckly to Big Bus Tours but unfortunately for all of us (customers), the buses of City Sightseeing havn't arrived to Muscat. Therefore, Big Bus supposes that can ignore customers needs and decrease the quality of service without any consequences. The prices (for 24h or 48h) are unbelievebly expensive (more expensive than in Dubai, which has no justification since Muscat has not more atractions than Dubai).  And what is worse, the service hop on hop off depends on in if there is a Cruise in the port of Muscat. If there is no Cruise, Big Bus will offer only Panoramic Tours, without possibility of stopping at any station and impeding you to visit the attractions. But the price of the tour will remain the same! It is an awful service to the customer. I definitively do not recommend Big Bus at Muscat (also not at Abu Dhabi), it is better to find out other tours avaliable at Viator, Getyourguide or other providers.

Haven't had a bad experience with Big Bus tours until.... - My experience with Big Bus Tours has been a terrible one.. As part of my very special trip with my mum (we haven't seen each other for four years!), I was looking for a an easy and educational excursions. Previously, I have taken Big Bus tours in other big cities and trusted I would get the same experience. When booking the two-day ticket (Abu Dhabi and Muscat), I have made clear that we need both English and Russian information provided on tours. When arriving in Muscat, I found out that the tour does not take tourists to the mosque (which is one of the rare gems to explore in Muscat), but it also does not have Russian audio guides!! So my mum, who does not speak English, had no access to guides!! Additionally, without the visit to the Mosque, Muscat had barely anything to offer for tourists.... and other travelers explored the city with a local taxi driver (who took them to the Mosque and gave them an in-depth local information as well) for a quarter of the Big Bus ticket price!! We felt robbed in the broad light! When I discussed this with a representative in Dubai (Shirley) she was compassionate but insisted we buy a tour in Dubai, with a discretionary discount. My mum wasn't able to refuse it, and whilst it was a more pleasurable experience, it does not live up to the prices that Big Bus is charging. There was no follow up on whether the Dubai tour changed our satisfaction or so. We have spent 400 euros to have only had properly enjoyed Abu Dhabi's tour. Few other overall comments: - There are no stop signs in the city. The instructions on finding the bus stops aren't always clear (for example, Bus Stop 10 states "Opposite to Malabar Gold" but the actual stop as we found out was in front of the Gold Souq extension..). Apparently there are regulatory restrictions for putting bus stop signs up, but there was no mention of that BEFORE booking the tours. - The company suggests using the app to track the buses. Not all travelers have a consistent data and relying on Wifi isn't a practice a tourist unfamiliar with the city can take! - Bus timings are not always consistent with the timetable (for example, we ended waiting from 10.12 to 11.05 for a bus in the Gold Souq stop on 7th March). - There is no actually working AC - and it does get HOT in this part of the world. - The audio guides are very quiet, especially on the motorways. - The same music keeps on playing between the guides. Imagine hearing the same two (or three?) songs for three days..! - Audio guides are CLEARLY OUTDATED. For example, information provided mentions 'a completion of construction in 2014'. We live in 2023 now....! - There are multiple duplications on the same route, for example World Trade Centre audio guide plays twice in a row. - Attractions are often coming with an additional entry fee. This is understandable - for an improved customer experience, Big Bus tours could provide that information so the tourists can determine if the stop is worth hopping off. For example, Big Bus stops 5-6mins walk from the ticket office to Dubai Frame. Whilst it appears a free-of-charge attraction, we hopped off for some exploring and picture time, just to learn that we can't get closer to the attraction itself without paying extra. - Most of staff we have spoken to, do not appear satisfied with their roles, focused on new sales only. I don't think anyone has checked our tickets the whole time. If Big Bus tours really cared about providing excellent customer service, as they state on the website and their audio guides, there would not be a need for a recent customer to spend their time writing a disappointing review. I am aware that this review combines negative experiences in Muscat and Dubai - this is the same company though and I hope the feedback will be incorporated accordingly.

Hop off - run back! - We turned up to find the hop on hop off was running - only optional was a drive around with 3 minutes at each stop to take photos. Not what we paid a lot of money for!!!

Bought a ticket but no bus showed up - Can't recommend it. Bought a ticket today for the same day and walked to the closest station (Number 3 - Business District). I found the station very quick and was waiting for 1,5h and no bus appeared. There is also no schedule at the station, so you just have to wait and hope that there is a bus operating. This is a shame, especially since I bought a ticket for a lot of money. I expect a full refund from Big Bus Tours for this!
