Highlights
  • Mill Creek Road - There is so much unique nature for children and families to experience in Big Bear Lake. Take a family-friendly walk with me into the woods and let me teach you and your family about our native plants and the history of the Big Bear Valley. I will explain all the different plants and trees we will see on the hike and even munch on wild plants we see growing seasonably on the trailside. I will tell you and your family stories about the animals who live in this forest, even showing your children animal tracks, owl pellets and if we see any butterflies I will teach your children the secrets to taking the best butterfly photos.
I love sharing my knowledge of this wilderness with young guests to Big Bear. As an outdoor enthusiast, I have so many tales to entertain families about our local Big Bear wildlife. If we meet any butterflies on the trail I will even give your children a quick lesson on butterfly photography!
I feel like getting kids interested in nature when they are young is a great way to influence the future generations of outdoor lovers. Big Bear Lake is a great alpine area to learn about our local plants and animals.

Additional Information

For half a decade, I have been guiding outdoor explorations in Big Bear. My experience in navigating Big Bear Valley’s top hiking trails spans over two decades. The majority of Big Bear’s trails tend to be demanding and are not particularly child-friendly due to their steepness. However, this particular trail is an exception as it is navigable with a stroller, a rarity amongst mountain trails. I take delight in the tranquillity and seclusion this woodland trail provides. It’s primarily traversed by locals, making it rather off-the-beaten-path and not touristy. I find pleasure in imparting knowledge about Big Bear Valley’s local history to those who join my tours. I also take delight in pointing out various native plants and animals to my younger guests, educating them about the fascinating diversity of nature, like potential encounters with indigenous insects along the paths.

Location
Skyline Trail 2N10 Public Access
Mill Creek Road
The meeting point is the junction of Tulip Lane and Mill Creek. We will drive a short distance from there to the hiking trail. I'll be in a black Subaru SUV.

Find Gems & Make a New Friend - I grew up in the San Bernardino mountains and had spent a lot of time in the woods. I found Amber on Instagram and marveled at her pictures and places unfamiliar and yet familiar to me. On a recent visit home, I decided to look her up, and am so glad I did. Amber guided me to some real gems, and I ended up booking additional hikes with her. She'll be on my agenda whenever I return home and will be the highlight of the trip.

Wonderful snow hike to Eye of God - Booked a last minute hike with Amber and she was very accommodating. I've been to Big Bear many times but with the huge amount of snow I had no idea where to hike. Luckily Amber knew where to go, and it was really educational to chat with a local guide who knows all the history, plants and traffic rules of Big Bear. I learned a lot in the 90 minutes talking and walking. And the snow scenery was beautiful everywhere you look. Most importantly Amber's tours are dog friendly and I was glad to bring my dog who loves running in the snow.

Nature walks for everyone to love - A nature walk is a must do when in Big Bear! Amber was very kind and informative and the hike was just right for mama and seven year old daughter. She is very knowledgeable about the area and has many different hike and adventure locations in her repertoire. If you aren’t familiar with Big Bear hike locations and need a guaranteed great nature experience for a crew with low mobility/mountain skills, this is for you.

Beautiful hike and easy too!! - The hike with my guide, Amber, was so much fun. It was absolutely beautiful. I’m not in the best shape but this was completely doable for me. She took some photos of me in the gorgeous scenery to have for memories. Amber was friendly, warm and knowledgeable about the area. I learned so much! I am on a solo vacation but would definitely bring family or friends on her guided hike in the future. I highly recommend doing this!!! You won’t regret it.

Wonderful Hiking with Amber - Amber is wonderful. After booking, she kept us up to date as with options for our hike. We had our kids and their children (ages 4,2, 4 months). She was wonderful with her narration and knowledge of the area. We loved Amber’s enthusiasm and she made this outdoor experience so fun and our kids (big and small) enjoyed the morning. She will make your hike special. Book now!!

Scenic easy hiking tour - Amber expertly guided my wife and I on a 2 hour private hiking tour to scenic spots above the lake. We hiked at a nice easy pace as Amber filled us in on the plants and history of the region. She knew exactly where to go for the best photos of the lake. Wonderful experience!
