Additionally, the Bhaktapur Durbar Square offers a comprehensive experience. The tour begins at Maheshowri Temple, followed by visits to ponds such as Jela Pokhari, Khancha Pokhari, Nhade Pokhari, and Kumari Pokhari. A brief stop at Chupinghat Mahadev Temple is included, along with visits to other significant ponds in Bhaktapur like Laiko Pokhari, Mangal Pokhari, Kadha Pokhari, Degamana Pokhari, Tekha Pokhari, Bhajuya Pokhari, Rani Pokhari, Siddha Pokhari, Guhye (Na Pukhu) Pokhari, Bal Maasan Pokhari, Kaldaha Pokhari, Indrayani Pokhari, Bhandarkhal Pokhari, Sundhara Pokhari, Taleju Pokhari, and Nag Pokhari. The major attractions of Bhaktapur Durbar Square include the Nyatapola Temple, 55 Windows Palace, Vatsala Temple, Siddhi Laxmi Temple, and the Golden Gate.
- Siddha Pokhari - Siddha Pokhari is a large, man-made pond located at the entrance of Bhaktapur. It is spacious enough for small boat rides and is a lively spot where locals frequently gather. The surroundings of the pond are picturesque.
- Bhaktapur Durbar Square - Bhaktapur Durbar Square is the most renowned landmark in Bhaktapur. Its architectural and historical significance has been acknowledged by UNESCO, earning it a place on the World Heritage Site list. Notable temples and structures in the square include the Nyatapola Temple, 55 Windows Palace, Vatsala Temple, Siddhi Laxmi Temple, Golden Gate, and many others. Bhaktapur is also famous for its yogurt, known as “JUJU DHAU” or “King of Yogurt,” cherished for its creamy texture and thick consistency.
- Nyatapola Temple - Nyatapola Temple is a five-tiered structure standing over 30 meters tall, making it one of the tallest temples in Nepal. It features five pairs of statues of ancient animals and deities along the temple steps. Each statue is said to be ten times stronger as you ascend the stairs. The temple is dedicated to Siddhi Laxmi, the ancestral deity of the Malla royal family. The image of Siddhi Laxmi is reportedly 10 feet tall, but since the temple opens only once a year in July, viewing it is challenging.
- Dattatreya Temple - Located on the east side of Bhaktapur in Dattatreya Square of Bhaktapur Durbar Square, the Dattatreya Temple is associated with the deity Dattatreya, a composite of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. The grand temple is said to be constructed from the stem of a single tree. The idols of the three gods with a large tree at the back are among its notable features.
- 55 Window Palace - Another iconic destination is the 55 Window Palace of Bhaktapur, situated near the Golden Gate entrance. Its name derives from the 55 intricately carved windows adorning the palace. The palace features carvings of various designs and deities, along with sacred wall paintings.
