We would happily recommend this... -
We would happily recommend this tour. We had a fabulous day trying different Turkish foods as well as gaining an insight into Turkish culture and history.
Our guides met us as planned at an amazing foodstore/cafe where we had a typical Turkish breakfast. The rest of the day was spent at a leisurely pace mainly on the Kadakoy side we took a ferry across wandering through the market area trying different foods along the way. My favourite was a store that sold mussels done two ways, lightly battered and fried, and also stuffed, yum! By lunchtime we had arrived at Ciya Sofressi, a restaurant written up in foodie magazines around the world. Already fairly full by this time we couldn't do it justice but did enjoy the very tasty kebabs. As there were only two of us on the tour with our guides we felt it might not be relaxing, but by the end of the day we felt that we had made new friends. A big thank you to Bulut and Mimet for a wonderful day!

Yaprak was an excellent tour guide...we were her only group, so we got a personal tour guide :-) She made sure we tasted and saw all there was in regards to the tastes of the locals. The breakfast was awesome - our favorite was the clotted cream with honey to spread over bread - yumm!

This is one of the highlights of my... -
This is one of the highlights of my trips to Istanbul! I'm a foodie so I thoroughly enjoyed all the tastings. The restaurant we visited for lunch had actually been recommended by a Turkish friend prior to my trip. She said it was a must visit and I agree. Very authentic and tasty. Also, the baklava was the best I've ever tasted in my life! The tour guide was also very knowledgable and friendly. I cannot say enough good things about this tour. If you are a foodie this tour is for you! I will say that the tour seems a bit pricey, because the tastings don't cost very much, but I enjoyed the tour so much that I didn't mind the price.

I didn't feel the trip was value for... -
I didn't feel the trip was value for money. It was very rushed and somewhat awkward. I didn't taste any food that was not available on the average hotel buffet or at any other restaurant in Turkey. For the price you pay for the trip you might as well treat yourself to some fine dining and actually get to experience something out of the ordinary instead of the run of the mill fare available on the tour. Although the food we ate was of a good quality, I was hoping to discover something different that would justify paying a guide for. I also didn't think the guide was very informed.
