A warm hug from Istanbul through Food🥰 - Başak , our guide, clearly loves this town and neighborhood. She was able to share Istanbul’s history and her own memories through all the delicious food we ate during the tour. She also has the heart of a teacher, even coming prepared with visual aids and a beautiful hospitable spirit. When she is with you all the stops are simply meeting her neighbors and enjoying a bit of what makes this their home.

Amazing selection of places and food - The guide and her selection of places to go were amazing. Felt really good to walk past all the tourist traps and get to try some authentic and high quality food. We went to places we never would’ve figured out to go on our own. Truly 5+ stars!

Discovering the back streets of Beyoglu where the locals eat - Our guide Basak was just lovely. So friendly and knowledgeable. Showed us some great places where the locals eat. Traditional Turkish food cooked to perfection. We tried so many different dishes and all were fantastic. You certainly did not go hungry. One of our group had some dietary restrictions which were well catered for. Would recommend this tote of Hidden Beyoglu

Great Experience - Food & Culture tour - Basak was so lovely, we had the best time and ate a variety of foods - her knowledge of the food scene and the area was so keen. We laughed, ate very well, saw how the food was crafted and just really enjoyed learning about the Turkish culture.

Unlocking a new city - Small group food tours are always the best ways to see a city and this one was no exception. When it's hard to know where to go and what to eat, these tours unlock a city and make you brave to venture out on your own. Başak was so generous and our fellow tourists were very fun. A great way to spend our first evening.

A truly memorable experience 🙌 - A family member had recommended culinary backstreets after having a fantastic experience with them in Italy. As we were staying in Beyoğlu, we thought we would give the hidden Beyoğlu tour a go. I came in with high hopes, but it really exceeded everything I could have hoped for and more. One portion of the value was in the lovely small group of people we were with, but a very large part of the value was due to our tour guide, Basak, who was absolutely wonderful. Basak provided so much valuable information, history, and local knowledge, curating a truly memorable experience for us. I also loved the focus on small independent businesses, particularly women owned and operated. This was probably the highlight of my stay in Istanbul, and I cannot wait to do another tour soon. Teşekkür ederim!

Amazing Experience - My husband and I actually did two tours with Culinary Backstreets. Both were excellent. We had two different guides, and we were very impressed with both women. They knew so much about the food and Turkish culture and history. It was a delight to spend time with them. We did the Hidden Beyoğlu tour with Basak and the 3 Waterside Neighborhoods with Esin. There was not much overlap, and we learned different information and tasted different foods on the two tours. The food was incredible. We also loved seeing the different Istanbul neighborhoods. It was also fun to take the different forms of public transportation. You can’t go wrong booking a tour. We had so much fun we booked a tour for when we’re in Athens!

Delicious food tour led by the very knowledgeable and friendly Dafni - We spent five hours or so with Dafni and five others eating delicious food and wonderful restaurants we just wouldn’t have found on our own. Other than being polite and friendly, Dafni was so very knowledgeable about the area and the food. Our experience was a great mix of food and history with a perfect bunch of really nice people. We can’t rate this trip experience highly enough if you enjoy local food and drinks in some “hidden” venues of Istanbul. Thank you Dafni and the others guys on our trip, for a most memorable evening.

Come hungry! - Lots of fun stops and a variety of foods and drinks to try in a very lively neighborhood. Basak was a wonderful guide who really took care of us and remembered our various food and drink restrictions. Great if you like all kinds of foods including sweets. Even better if you like pickles too! Do yourself a favor and book this tour, but eat only a light meal earlier in the day. Pace yourself! You will not believe the amount of food this tour provides. Wear good walking shoes.
