- Gornergrat Railway - The tour continues with a scenic train ride to the historic Gornergrat Bahn, Switzerland’s first electric rack railway, established in 1898. The railway connects the resort village of Zermatt to the summit of the Gornergrat, where the station is perched at an elevation of 3,089 m (10,135 ft).
As the train ascends the mountain, travelers can enjoy breathtaking Alpine vistas of the Monta-Rosa region, nearby glaciers, the Matterhorn, and Switzerland’s highest peak, the Dufourspitze. Upon reaching the summit, views of the 29 surrounding mountain peaks and several glaciers, including the Gorner Glacier (the second longest glacier in the Alps!), can be admired.
