Kreuzberg - Originally a district populated by the working class, Kreuzberg became a magnet for youthful individuals and Turkish migrants during the 1960s and 1970s. It preserved a significant amount of its pre-war charm during this period, largely because it was encircled by the Berlin Wall on two fronts, which deterred substantial investment from property developers. Consequently, a vibrant and ethnically varied community emerged. An abundance of coffee shops, eateries, boutiques, and nightclubs established Kreuzberg as a popular destination for both daytime and nighttime entertainment. Notably, following the fall of the Wall, Kreuzberg experienced less transformation than other districts, retaining much of its 1980s ambiance.
