A true TASTE of Bergen! - We were 7 people in total that did this food and culture walk.
We met a guided tour, Lily that explained what was was expected during the tour. It lasted 3 hours. We met and began the tour at the visitor's centre near the fish market. We had the fish cake, a cinnamon bun with norwegian cheese, a great soup, beer, etc. All good. :) Our bellies were full at the end of this tour.
Lily was very pleasant and informative. Answering questions about Bergen, its culture and history and food. She was patient (there were a few elderly in the group) with all of us. The stories were interesting.
I recommned getting a pair of good walking shoes out, taking bottled water, maybe a fruit, wear sunblock if hot and a hat.
The real TASTE of Bergen! I HIGHLY recommend this tour.

Great Experience! - Great tour to try some local food and learn about Bergen's culture! Our tour guide, Ole, was fantastic - knowledgeable, personable, and funny, he made the experience both educational and enjoyable.
We walked at a relaxed pace which was perfect for some of the older guests of the tour as they were easily able to keep up.
We had 3 drinks, 3 snacks, and an entree and everything was great.
We highly recommend this tour!

Great Day in Bergen - We not only got to taste great food and drinks unique to Norway, but we also had a great walking tour of the city and learned the history of Bergen. Perfect weather didn’t hurt!

Enjoyable local insights and tasty fish, soup, beer - Group of six women friends had a lovely tour with Matias. He was very personable, knowledgeable, and gave us a local’s perspective on what is special about Bergen’s culture and its food scene. Enjoyed a sampler of local seafood at the fishmarket (so much so that we retuned there for dinner the following evening). Final stop was a beer found only at a historic pub and a unique story to match.

Be sure to do it! - For us, experiencing the local color also means getting to know local food and drinks. But the tour was really wonderful. We learned a lot about the city and its history and how it also had a culinary impact. Just great!

Combination is perfect - Serena was a great tour guide. It was such a delight to hear insights from a local person. Loved the combination of food and culture. We have been on other food tours but this combination was perfect.

Pleasant tour - Quite a pleasant tour, relaxed and easy. The food part is good and interesting although not spectacular and the culture part is rather light but the whole thing makes for a pleasant couple of hours in central Bergen and is not a good bad option if you have a couple of days in town. The whole experience is however quite overpriced.

Disappointing for the price - Disappointing & lacklustre for the price. Our tour guide was lovely, brilliant English and answered many questions that the group had. But if you’re looking for a FOOD tour, this isn’t it. We received a fish cake, half a cinnamon bun, a dried fish flake, apple juice, pork & veg soup, hot apple juice, beer. It took 3.5 hours and seemed to drag. We finished the tour starving, which you don’t expect when you’ve spent £180! Overall it was a nice walk with a few nibbles.

Do Not Book!! - I travel extensively and in each country I always experience a food tour—-I firmly believe the easiest way to understand a country’s culture is through its cuisine.
Unfortunately, this tour did not provide. DO NOT BOOK!
- The tour guide (who never introduced her name) read Norwegian facts from a laminated paper
- We never met the restaurant owners or chefs, nor did we even see where the food was being prepared. Typically, the guide sat us on benches near where the food was prepared and brought us whatever was prepared. The restaurant it was purchased from or the reason why that restaurant was chosen (i.e because the location was known to the locals, its a family owned establishment, it won certain awards, etc) was never explained/offered
- Guide rarely linked the food provided with the culture of Norway/Bergen but rather talked about the landmarks around the area instead (which were often better explained by other tourists on the tour who had just come from alternative Norwegian tours)
- We didn’t even walk through the market or stop at any locally owned stalls, but toured around the wharf area instead—-sometimes even stopping in random alleys to try pre-packaged foods
- When it was time to try klippfisk, the guide put on a rubber glove, opened a Tupperware from her home and offered a finger-nail sized piece. She never showed the packaging or talked about the Norwegian staple and why it’s popular to the locals. I did not pay $300+ for a tiny sample—-even if most guests don’t enjoy it, the tour can afford to waste any pieces the guests don’t finish
- No wet wipes, hand sanitizer, napkins, toothpicks or gum was offered at any stops. Really unfortunate.
Ended up leaving the tour an hour+ early. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. This tour does not focus on the culture of Norway through food.
